Read what parents are saying about The Main Street AcademyMy daughter has been at this school since 1st grade when they were asking for students. Before any lottery to get in. I love this school the influence of the black male teacher, the social groups for all ages and the communication. As parents its our job to check on our kids ans communicate. I use that classroom dojo because it's worth it!
Posted by a parent on 2/3/2024There’s so much that I can say about this school, but everyone’s experience is different and I understand that. One thing for sure though, they definitely need to take a look into their safety procedures. I went to pick up my son early from school one day and I literally just walked in and told the front desk his name and they called for him. I didn’t show ANY identification, I didn’t even sign anything for record of me taking him out. They originally sent the wrong student out to me, a middle schooler I believe, my son is in elementary. Smh. That alone left a very bad taste in my mouth. My son also came home with an open gash on his eyebrow and told me he bumped into someone’s teeth at school. He said he went to the nurse but she was on lunch so he didn’t see anyone. I was NEVER INFORMED ABOUT THIS INCIDENT. I had to reach out to his teacher and let her know, which she had no knowledge of. This is just the lack of information aspect that TMSA has, I won’t even get into how his classroom/grade system is ran. Side note: teachers should be differentiating for the students in their class which they are not.
Posted by a parent on 10/14/2022I had great expectations when i told my daughter to sign my grandson up for TMSA. I had a co-worker who sent his kids there and spoke very highly of the school. However, my experience was something less than great. To be honest it was quite disappointing. I'll be brief and tell you to PLEASE don't fall for the hype. This school is not what it claims to be. At least the kindergarten teachers my grandson was assigned were not. They had very poor communication skills. And didn't have a clue about how to deal with and teach kindergarteners. My grandson was already reading when he got there, but he didn't learn anything new while he was there. After he told us that his teachers was nice to each other and mean to the kids that was the last straw. We took him out of that school and have not looked back. It was the best decision i could have ever made. And lastly, that car rider is ridiculous. My daughter would get there at 2:00 and the line would not begin to move until 3:50. Just unorganized and overrated.
Posted by a parent on 2/2/2022Consistent across many years, the issue at the school is leadership. Poor communication and an out-of-touch principal who uses bulling language with parents on public social media is the main problem. Teachers are wonderful but the administration keeps them from doing their jobs effectively.
Posted by a parent on 4/30/2019We love TMSA! I will give them 8 out of 10.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis by far has to be the worst school in APS history.lets start with the office staff I have never in my entire life met a group of nasty women that are beyond unprofessional. The school has a principle that you are not allowed to speak with at all. Issues with your child trying to talk to them or the principle falls on deaf ear. They have no concern of matters that is going on, this school and the principle is all about self.... The state needs to go in and and do and investigation on the staff and either get an entire new staff or some training.Parent Review2y ago - Brookview Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI recently transfered my son to Asa Hilliard elementary from King Springs elementary in Smyrna, Ga. That was the WORST decision I've made thus far as a parent. Since ASA Hilliard elementary is a new school they have no state rating until after this school year is up. But I QUICKLY discovered this was formally Mt.Olive elementary which was ranked 1 out of 10 in ratings. Pretty much the bottom of the barrel. And the teachers exode that energy, well I can't speak for all but my son 2nd grade teacher is a sad story. Not only is the economic struggles and zoning zip codes can easily have a negative reputation on the kids it's also sadden to know the teachers quietly have no faith in their students progress. My son is and have been on track with his education and behavior until recently. I'LL apologize to him for putting him in this school and promised to have his charter / private school entry done this summer!Parent Review8y ago - Heritage Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTerrible school. Our children are the future, and that's very important to remember as parents and teachers we are supposed to work together and hold a certain level of respect. Not here, super disrespectful super lazy, I feel like they care more about their appearance than the children. If they do the bare minimum they feel they deserve praise, the kids are fighting looking at nasty stuff on the computer running away from roaches in the hallway, dealing with bullies and people stealing people bringing weapons and getting them past the front office. Whenever you try to stand up for yourself or your children the staff members tear you down and act like you are the problem and the enemy. I'm not sure what they went to college for but the moment of child gets difficult they want to suspend them and they don't realize it's their toxic environment pushing these kids into the behavior that they're exhibiting I have a fourth grader and a kindergartener and other than a few friends they honestly don't like school so we won't be coming back next year but I just wanted to save any parent that I could the time stress energy and effort that I've wasted at this school. You can definitely find better. If you do happen to be forced to enroll your child in this school be the one to stand up and stick up for what's right and try to make it change because no staff member up their will.Parent Review1y ago - Mount Olive Early Learning Center

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy oldest son attended this school when he turned three and stayed until kindergarten, he’s now in 4th grade and now my youngest son attends the school and has attended since he was one. If I were able to rate this school more I would. Please understand nothing is prefect but as a parent I can leave my child without worry and I’m always excited to hear what he’s learned. This week pre-K will be going to the library and my son is super excited. The school encourages students to be excited about learning and that in itself is priceless.Parent Review4y ago
