Read what parents are saying about New Heights Elementary SchoolThis school is amazing, being a student who has studied at this school, it's a great school from my personal experience.
Posted by a community member on 11/18/2016To the person saying the gates are wide open on weekends. How many times did you see the gate opened? And how does this effect your child and others safety on the weekend when they are not in school on the weekend? To the person saying the cafe staff yells at the kids. Funny how all the parents think there kids are smart little angels. I am pretty sure if they were doing what they were asked they would not get yelled at. But then again they are in the cafe and do not listen to anyone or talk with inside voices. pretty sure you have not been in there long enough to make these statements. All the teachers and staff put their time in and time at home to get their job done. Many other jobs finish when you leave work but not for teachers. Work continues at home with grading papers and getting lesson plans ready. Everyone will always find a better way of doing it. Parents dont really know who is pulling the strings at schools.
Posted by a community member on 8/2/2016My 9 year old went to New Heights. She was bullied every day, and was told by the office there was nothing that could be done about it. The RN is rude to the kids when they comes down feeling sick. A friend's son fell and injured himself, and they refused to call mom. He was in kindergarten and had a bloody knee. Mom only found out because I was there and saw him, so I let him call his mother. In my daughter's class, there was a little boy whom could not read above kindergarten level and he was still allowed to pass on to fourth grade. I have seen the lunchroom staff scream at the kids to push their food up, even if they were actively eating and had 10 minutes left of lunch time. There are some very nice people there, but the majority of it is horrible. I took my child out of the school.
Posted by a parent on 7/5/2016This school's staff is remarkable! They work hard daily to insure that students are getting a good education. The principal is strong and fair....and the whole community care for the children like they are their own...It takes a village. This is a hidden jewel in the county. I know, many may say the scores...the ranking...but that is not the only thing that makes a school spectacular! I'd want my children to go somewhere where the staff go above and beyond! My friend told me that Mrs. Wilson , Mr. Clifton, and Mrs. Sonny came over her house to do a home visit and to make sure she got paper work she needed...and 2 of them walked! That is what I am looking for. Go New Heights.
Posted by a community member on 6/22/2016My son has spent the last 2 years at New Heights and performed well. My only complaint is that they work on their communication with Parents as a whole and better lock down for the side gates to protect kids in before/after care and portables. I drive by on the weekend and the gates are wide open...

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe love Mount Vernon. We are new this year and came from a private school experience that we loved. MVE is definitely a different environment but it has a lot to recommend it: the teachers and staff are amazing; the student body and staff are diverse; the parents are engaged. I highly recommend checking out the school on the open house day (Nov 2) or one of the tour days. There's plenty more to learn than the numbers here suggest.Parent Review5y ago - Northeast High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAfter transferring to Northeast, I've really enjoyed it. I've recently graduated and come from a different school in the county. One of the bigger things you'll notice as a student is how much silent (and loud) racism and unprofessional things happen here. One of the teachers has been said to say the n-word multiple times, and pretty much harassed a student "attempting" to apologize about it. Another teacher, reveals his concealed carry card to students and tells them to "not try him." The school itself is pretty good, but you'll notice a lot more snarkiness, and silent drama. From what I've experienced there's a pretty good range of demographic at the school. It's not always one set group of students in the honors/AP/Dual enrollment classes and most of the teachers seem to try to help the students succeed if they want to. The school is pretty good compared to other ones, but most people don't realize that and take it for granted.Other Review10mo ago - Northwest Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has attended this school for the past 3 years, starting in kindergarten. I have never had any problems with the staff or employees at this school. Everyone seems to enjoy their job here and care about the kids well being. We have been lucky in receiving great teachers along the way so far! I will update this review if anything changes, however I believe this is a very good school for children. I wanted to make sure and give it a review to let it and others know that!. Thank you!Parent Review2y ago - Westgate Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is not the same as is used to be. It was once an incredible place and I, myself used to be a Wildcat and was so proud my child was going to attend this school as well. Up until this past year. The leadership is extremely disappointing, if you plan on requesting any help/guidance/support, you WILL be put off or lied too and your child WILL be disregarded because it just isn't being probably handled as it should. It's a shame, a lot of amazing, long time teachers have left for the exact reasons. Poor leadership. Please do something for the kids of the future and get a more suitable person for the position of being in charge of OUR kids.A concerned parent.Parent Review1y ago - John M. Sexton Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHello to all parents, my name is Angela and I have a 12th grade Senior at the school of the Immaculata, I feel that the school has been a God send to our lives. My daughter attend public school and her experience was one we will never wish upon anyone. The public school system is failing our kids , and the school of The Immaculata saved her and allowed her the freedom to grow and learn in SAFETY. I can go to work and carry on a full day without worry that my child is in harms way. They provide professional and kind services when dealing with youths. They provide a warm home feeling Dr Got tis and the educational staff ate Great. This is our year to graduate and see our daughter reach her full goals and potential. I'm Thankful for Makay schollarship and Step up for Students for providing our children with the opportunity to receive a proven school education . I would recommend the school of the Immaculata to all my friends and family. I feel so good , when I look at my daughter and see how she shines and is blossoming into a young lady. The Immaculata is helping my daughter with her feature plans to attend college and work as a teacher aid part time. I can day this. I would not change my daughter back to public school or ever take the chance of loosing our slot in the Immaculata. I advise all parents who are struggling while you watch your child loose out on a chance at a wonderful education and a great life experience , come visit and see a new world right before your eyes. The opportunity for a fare chance and a opportunity to have one on one attention. The are a lot of opportunity within the Immaculata, cone join us. I am a real parent. I have had the worst experience with the flawed public school system, I wouldn't turn back for anything. We ate proud parents of the Immaculata in St Petersburg FL , a great place for a kid to be a kid and get a great education in the process. They provide before and after care , what more can working parents desire. Sports and in-school activities also here at the Immaculata. Parent to parent , it's a God send , I feel we where placed at there door , I know understand, it was the feeling of being home , where you belong. I can rest easy that my child is not in any harm , fear of them being hurt and no one to help . The school system has failed me. I am a Blue Knight of the school of the Immaculata come join usParent Review8y ago - Transfiguration Catholic School
