Read what parents are saying about Mavericks High SchoolIm the mother of one of the student that graduated last year, when m y son enter this school his GPA was under 130, when I arrived here for the first i went directly to Mr. Brown and explain the situation of my son and he took time immediately and enroll my son in this school, immediately introduce me to Mr. Clark and this gentleman took charge on helping my son with the proper teachers where he got the help needed on one on one classes including saturdays and few sundays, I was so proud to received later a call from Mr. Clark where he was informing me that my son was graduating with a GPA of 350, at that moment i felt so proud of my son, but most of all of all the teachers that help him graduate and give him the help needed, i recommend this school to anyone, the staff are the best and the school no 1...
Posted by a parent on 10/27/2013I teach at Maverick High School. I love this school and all of my students. Our principal, Nadine Leblanc is one of a kind, with a heart of gold. She's a great person, educator and leader. We help our students on a one on one basis, whenever possible. We also have direct instruction to reinforce our computer based model of learning. Students work at their own pace, with the teacher's guidance. A lot of our students have been to a couple of schools in the county and they tell us we are VERY different from anything of them. We try to motivate them, educate them, train them in socially acceptable behaviors, and graduate them. We try to get all of our students into college or a job, at the very least. We also have social programs to help them and their families. We are just a different kind of school, of which I feel privileged to be a part.
Posted by a teacher on 1/18/2012My daughter is a current student at this school and she has gotten by far the best treatment than in any other public school she has EVER attended! The teachers are great & really care about the students. The key at this school is motivation & desire to learn. They provide the tools but you are working at your own pace and it's up to the student to do the work. My daughter is graduating this year and they are helping with her college applications and really motivating her to aim high. It has been the best boost to her self esteem to see what she achived by her own effort! Like I said it depends on the student, teachers are not miracle workers so if your child is not willing to work for it don't expect it but if the desire is there they will help them achieve their goals. I have had people judge my daughter because she goes to this alternative learning school and it makes me smile because I know my daughter is a very good student who because of the incompetence of her previous schools staff was bullied out of the high school she attended and I am so happy I brought her here! Thanks Mavericks High.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI wouldn't recommend this school to anyone. the teaching horrible, I don't think 95% of the staff has any type of training in education their just giving a job off of who they know. special education: they won't give your child the assistance or need but they'll take the money or scholarship .teachers: are disrespectful to parents and it seems to be supportive by admin.kids come there get high and OD bullying adim supports staff members who abuses minor and shames the child instead of the staff members. students on student reporting always get brushed off the shoulder and the accuser is always shamed by telling.DON"T PUT YOUR CHILD IN NKCS FOR THEIR SAFETY AND WELL BEINGParent Review1y ago - First United Methodist School
