I really enjoyed my time at Oasis High School, but if I could go back I would choose a different school. Many of my teachers were compassionate and were instrumental in my extensive success in high school. However, I had just as many bad teachers as good. Many were not qualified to teach their positions, and therefore caused many students to not pass exams. The administration is unstable and not appropriate for a high school. The new administration has driven out most of the teachers (between the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school year there was a 95% teacher turnover). The rules of the school give the students no freedom which is detrimental to young adults who are supposed to be preparing for college where they are given nothing but freedom. The AICE program is also not widely accepted, and those colleges who do accept the credits only accept a small amount. I loved the small school feeling and how you could really connect with your teachers, but in the end Oasis was only detrimental to me. I wish that my parents had sent me anywhere else for high school because most of the classes I took ended up being a waste of my time. I also feel that the school offered students no help in terms of preparing and applying for college. All but one of my college applications were declined because the guidance counselors forgot to submit my transcripts on time and this happened to many other students at the school.

Great school with a small school feel. Any ratings that are less than good is because the school has high expectations for both students and teachers. Both of my children had wonderful experiences. There has been change, but most of it is for the better!

I wish I had a time machine so I could have gone to a different school and actually learned something. I am already planning to change back to public school next year.

Since I came to Oasis starting in sixth grade and now onto the high school, I have changed as a person. I stopped caring for others, I became rude, aggressive, and I only have Oasis to thank for that. I've wanted to leave within the first week I came to this 'school' but I stayed as strong as I could to continue through this cesspool. The teachers, the staff, the students, the greater Charter School System itself have pushed myself and many others towards the edge. Academics are the only thing that matters, art programs, athletic programs, none of that matters. The only thing that matters is that Oasis gets their money and abuses their powers. If you send your child here, you are making a horrible choice. Sending your child to Oasis High or Oasis Middle is the equivalent of child abuse.

I’d like to say that Oasis HS is one of the finest schools that I’ve ever seen and I was thrilled (and proud) to teach there.I was one of those teachers who worked a brief time at Oasis. I taught Biology as a long-term substitute from January to May, and while I’m not clear on the causes of their turnover challenge (I’d go back as a long-term substitute in a heartbeat) I’d like to give you a glimpse behind the scenes in the teachers’ lounge.I had lunch with 7-12 teachers each day and I’ve never met a more caring group of individuals. Sure, we joked around a bit, but we also shared challenges and advice regarding the students, ALL of whom are treated with respect behind closed doors. I daresay that the students would be stunned at how much these teachers care about their welfare and their ability to transition into the next stage of their lives. And quite frankly, the Oasis students deserve it; they are an extraordinary group of kids. I taught 157 freshmen (around 65% of the class of 2019) and 50 seniors, and I could see how fortunate these students are to be in the Oasis system. The whole atmosphere (from an adult’s perspective) is one of students respecting each other throughout the years, and I think ANY student would be lucky to be a part of this school.Yes, hormones being what they are (I teach biology, after all) I’m sure that there are the usual dramas and challenges associated with teenagers in every High School. But I’d like to assure the parents that Oasis is staffed with caring, wonderful teachers (at least the dozen or so that I got to know well). I also think that they are very lucky in the administrative department with enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated staff in the front office from the Principal on down.Do not think twice about sending your son or daughter here – they will be part of a fine and growing tradition and will have many fond memories of being a part of this magnificent school.
