Visits from NASA astronauts, award winning authors, musicians, and artists, world class scientists, MIT professors, conservationists and the list goes on - this all really happens at The Children’s School. My child comes home inspired, curious, excited, and full of wonder! The teachers are incredibly kind and thoughtful, dedicated, and highly educated and experienced. Basically, this school is a dream come true for our family! Simply the best early education you could possibly give to your child.

My son completed the 2’s program at Canaan Ridge last year, and we are back for the 3’s program this year. We have found it to be an incredibly nurturing, wonderful place—just the right mix of a relaxed Montessori program with art and music that has provided him with a great introduction to school. My son loved doing daily well-planned art projects and enjoyed music lessons and story time. He loved his teachers and the principal and staff. Canaan Ridge has two beautiful playgrounds for sunny days and a large indoor play space when the weather is bad. Because of their small class sizes, they could tailor the teaching to each child and allow each child to progress according to his own abilities. For example, if a three-year-old showed interest in reading, a teacher worked individually with the child each day to foster their development. We also found the administration to be extremely flexible and accommodating.

We cannot believe how lucky we are that our family ended up living in Stamford, with our kids attending Bi-Cultural. It is literally the best balance of warm/nurturing and academic rigor. Students in this school are HAPPY, well-adjusted children who learn good values and care about one another. Students in the school are also set up for major success! It's absolutely incredible how well these kids do on standardize tests and in national tournaments. The teachers are fantastic and provide true individualized attention. There is a wonderful love of Judaism and strong passion for Israel that come through daily as well. It is a really amazing school!

Lower school was great, although tough to justify financially. I think you'd get as much or more out of most public elementary schools in Fairfield County. Middle school has been plagued by revolving and poor leadership for years. Honestly, I would strongly recommend against King for middle school.

Hi-Overall we are not pleased with what our child received from LRS and the overall management of the school. It’s very dated in terms of the processes. The head and some of the teachers are extremely unprofessional. The tour is wonderful and that’s what won us over. Unfortunately, that was fluff.

Mead underwent a transformation over the past 5 years. Teachers codified their curriculum in a way that made it more accessible and understandable to parents, embraced new tools, and communication among parents, faculty and administration has greatly improved. Admittedly, when we started 5 years ago, it felt a little like we were being asked to just trust "The Mead Way". I was uncertain about what our son was learning, but he seemed happy and safe. By fourth grade, we had a better window into his academics and I was blown away. When our children ultimately left the school, they tested well above their peers academically. Maybe more importantly, our children took with them some amazing values - notably the love of learning and an ability to self-advocate. With a new interim Head of School and an integrated initiative to support 2E / children with learning differences (Nexus) - it seems the school has turned a corner on a challenging period and is positioned for very bright days ahead.
