Read what parents are saying about University High SchoolTop notch. Son got into UConn Storrs, and very good SAT's opportunity to get UConn credits and UHart credits... Can't say enough positive things... this place totally changed his life from being ostracized, bullied to having a wide group of friends, loving school, learning and doing very well .
Posted by a parent on 6/18/2018This school is absolutely not for everyone. A student AND their family must be committed to making this work. The classes are challenging and there are no easy As, these students earn their GPA. UHSSE Staff is invested in the students. Contrary to previous reviews, college credits are available from UNH, UCONN, and U Hart for the students that are college ready. Sports has come a long way since the school opened even winning a few division and state titles in track and field and soccer. Absolutely the right fit for my student.
Posted by a parent on 2/21/2015This is a fantastic school and my child is thriving here. He is very intelligent and this school motivates and challenges him. He began taking college courses in his sophomore year, and has earned numerous college credits. He works very hard to earn A's and B's, and actually seems to enjoy it, as his instructors are very encouraging. The First Robotics team is the school's best extracurricular activity and offers many educational and teamwork experiences. This school isn't for everyone, but students interested in science and engineering, who are willing to work, will do very well!

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had 4 children attend UHMS. My last child is currently in the 2nd grade and my oldest is graduating high school in one month. I cannot say enough positive things about this school. One of my children is Autistic and even though he eventually transferred to an Autism program in the district, UHMS did everything possible to give him the same love, attention and educational support that my other children had and have been given. The faculty and staff are amazing. The school would be chaotic and unable to run smoothly with out the assistance of Deb Wilcox. She is the lottery administrator for the school and a second mother to most of these children. Margy, the nurse is the most kind and attentive nurse I have ever seen. The school is lead by two fantastic men, Mr. Barber and Mr. Hurd. I find it impossible for a parent or guardian not to find this school and administration to be the best possible option for an elementary setting.Parent Review2y ago - Rawson School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is an excellent school. My son started in PK4, in Montessori schools classrooms are mixed, so he was in the class with 3, 4 and 5 y.o. There is a very nice environment in the classroom and older kids/kids that are more advanced support the rest of the kids. My son was able to establish the rhythm that worked for him, he joined the 5 y.o. in many lessons and he ended the school year reading simple texts. We visited the classroom and loved it. It is structured and organized, but the kids have a lot of agency. During the visit, kids were supposed to teach the parents some of their lessons, and it was fantastic and sweet. We love the way Montessori approaches math.I miss a bit more of social-emotional learning focus, but I believe that it is a regular issue in U.S. classrooms. It's a great school and I am very happy kids with all economic backgrounds can have access to a Montessori education.Parent Review8mo ago - Breakthrough Ii

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBreakthrough North is a caring, nurturing community. The teachers are exceptional and work together to create a remarkably consistent school culture across classrooms. My children are both working ahead of grade level and are supported well through differentiated instruction. I highly recommend Breakthrough North.Parent Review5y ago - Hebrew High School Of New England
