Read what parents are saying about Mary Morrisson SchoolMy child has not only grown as a learner since coming to this school but has enjoyed going to school for the first time ever! He started in 3rd grade and continued through 5th. I have to say it has been the most enjoyable experience as a parent to see my child WANT to go go school every morning! The principals are top notch and I really can't say enough about the teachers and staff. Our family has been so blessed to have become part of this community.
Posted by a parent on 7/16/2017The teachers and the principle worked with my child..he had his days.they never gave up on him.they wasn't quick to send him home..they wanted him in school.they truly had empathy for him and other students as well as parents.which made it easy..he loves school and the responsibilities they gave him as well as rewards.if he needed extra help with work the teachers send him to the right teacher for that subject and gave my child more time to work on his weakest areas in that particular subject. They've also sent him home with instructions for me to understand and help him with his work. Also they have emails class dojo to keep me updated on what's going on with him and at the school which is a great way to communicate.I love that school and I would recommend it to anyone..this is my child last year and I am going to miss everyone there including the secretary shes my favorite as well as the principal and the principles husband who became my sons mentor .they make everything better...im a single parent and they helped in areas that i couldn't do alone.Mary Morrison rocks! And its a very safe secure place...
Posted by a parent on 5/5/2016I couldn't DISAGREE more with the previous comment. My family and I couldn't be anymore grateful to the staff and administration than we already are. I have two children who are in separate grades and we had an incredible school year. My son had such a positive and impactful year in the 4th grade and both he and my younger child couldn't say enough wonderful things about their teachers. From our experience, this year only further helps us to understand how much the teachers and staff at this school genuinely CARE about these kids and as a parent, it makes me feel proud to have our children be apart of Mary Morrisson. Both Principals have always been more than helpful to my family and their staff truly go above and beyond to help the students. I HIGHLY recommend this school to any family who is new to the area!
Posted by a parent on 6/23/2015Poor order, the staff rarely seems to have it together. The parent-staff relations are below grade satisfactory. Unclear on policies, the principal and assistant principal I have heard on numerous occasions, yelling at teachers, and students. Dressed inappropriately. Rarely a smile. Overcharged cafeteria food. My kindergartner has been bullied and cursed out numerous times. We will not be attending public school next year with this experience. The teachers are mistreated in open sight. It just looks the head staff are just trying to play "school" with no idea how to run one.
Posted by a parent on 5/5/2015I completely agree with the previous post! My children are genuinely excited to go to school and I think it has a great deal to do with these teachers. I'm so proud of their growth and I couldn't be happier with the environment that this staff is providing for our family. Thank you to the principal and these energetic and highly dedicated teachers!

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was SO pleasantly surprised with this school! My son had Mrs. Nystrom for 1st grade and she was fantastic. It was so fun at the open house to see so many upper elementary kids come in and give her hugs ... my overall experience with the staff & teachers there was great. The kids get art, music, PE, and library/media one day each week, each with a dedicated teacher/classroom. You don't see that very often in public schools any more! Class size was great as well; I think my son only had 17 kids in his classroom.Parent Review8y ago - Catherine Kolnaski Magnet School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kids were picked up in the lottery after spending a wasted year at the local "blue ribbon" school here in Groton. So far the experience has been pleasant. Any issues that happen, the VP is on the phone with me telling me this happened today and this is what we did to fix the problem. Any time my child is seen at the nurse the nurse calls me to let me know even if its super minor. I don't mind I'd rather know if my child has a fresh cut that I can look at after school and treat. Mr Moon is amazing. He's the robotics teacher and all the students love him! My students know more about the 3D printer and drones than I do. They also offer musical instruments for the students in the younger grades which has been amazing! This STEM school has been a good choice for us. As far as someone saying something about rough kids quite honestly my kids had more issues in the other local school with bullies because of the Academi students not being watched. Also, everyone merges together in the Middle school anyway so keeping them away from the "low" income kids won't last forever. Also, its good to be diverse.Academic wise my student started the year a grade and a half behind in reading and math. By March was at grade level and excelling daily. They really went above and beyond helping in reading and math. I have no issues with this school and would recommend this school.Parent Review5y ago - Sacred Heart School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI thought by sending my son to this private Catholic school I was giving him the best education and opportunity. I had gone to Catholic school all my life and had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately that was not the case with my son and Sacred Heart. After my son was diagnosed with a medical condition, Sacred Heart refused to accommodate his special needs. Even after granting them full access to talk to his team of doctors, review of his medical records, and a doctor created care plan for school, the new principal chose to tell us a quarter of the way into his second year he wasn’t welcome. Unfortunately that was not the only issue we had, or other parents have had. Bullying is not reported to the parents or controlled by the school. My nephew (also a student) was held down and kicked and stomped on by his classmates at recess and my son came home several times having been punched, put in a headlock, etc. There was lots of verbal teasing as well. To put the icing on the cake, one of my son’s teachers (knowing all about his special needs) told him he’s an animal and didn’t deserve to be at Sacred Heart. For a school that claims Jesus is at the heart of everything they do, I am appalled at how my son was treated. It even lead to 2 suicide attempts. Thankfully my son is now in the local public school, receiving top notch support, and he is THRIVING. He’s also receiving a much better education and is surrounded by competent educators. Also, after kicking him out due to his special needs, they kept the tuition. Absolutely disgusting behavior all around and not a place fit to teach children.Parent Review3mo ago
