I attended Miss Porter’s and also sent my daughter there. My own experience could not have been more different to my daughter’s. If I could go back, I would not send her there. The academics are nearly laughable these days. Their reputation is such that their “advanced” courses were not even accepted for credit at her (excellent) college. She was accepted at and attends a prestigious university, though no thanks at all to the virtually incompetent and duplicitous college advising. Save your money. They are motivated by statistics, and will direct your child not to stretch themselves toward applying to “reach” schools. This is so their own numbers vis a vis college acceptances look better. It has nothing to do with your child’s capabilities. If we had not taken our child’s application process in hand ourselves our daughter would most likely have attended a much more run-of-the-mill institution. The administration is all about how things look, and not at all about how they actually are. Trust me, the kids know the truth of that. They have little respect for the administration, and rarely have the opportunity to form good relationships with the faculty who rarely stay a long time anymore, and are compelled to be responsible for so much they have little time to nurture students. In years gone by this was all so different and it is a shame the direction that the school has taken. And yet…..the Head of the School is perhaps the highest paid such individual among private school heads. The board of trustees have had the wool well and truly pulled over their eyes. Sad.

I attended Miss Porter's and sent my daughter there. If she were starting high school now, I would not send her. The new academic calendar is ridiculous and academics have declined. No longer does the school offer Intermission which was one of the things that made Porter's special. The girls do not form close bonds with their teachers or eachother. The sense of community that made it special is gone. There are nor enough activities or supervision and yet the enforcement of the rules is draconian. They can no longer retain faculty members. Until there is a change in the administration, do not send your girl to Miss Porter's

Miss Porters is an excellent school. The academics are strong. The classes run on trimesters which means the students get to work intensely at only several courses at a time which enriches the educational experience. The teachers and entire staff have been outstanding and very responsive. The girls have many choices for weekend extra curricular activities. We have been more than pleased with the school! My family can highly recommend Miss Porters.

Our experience with this school was deplorable, the level of unprofessionalism, deficient management, and at times simply incompetent staff, has been the source of many headaches. I hope to have the pleasure of never working with them again, both for me and my child's sake.

We so regret sending our daughter here. Academics were sub-par, as were athletics. During COVID adult supervision/guidance was practically non-existent, leaving girls to resort to a social "Lord of the Flies" like existence. Of course this resulted in mental health issues galore among the student body, a crisis the school's counseling department was not equipped to deal with. We will spend years undoing the damage. The only thing this school excels at is marketing itself. Do not be taken in by their flawless execution of open houses and school visit days like we were. The day to day reality is completely different. Nothing has changed since the Vanity Fair article from over 10 years ago that exposed this school for the heartless, dysfunctional unhealthy environment it is.
