I just came to this site to compare Woodrow Wilson to our nearby public school. My child and I were discussing standardized testing and together we were looking for comparison data. I am leaving this review because I was shocked at other reviews I saw here. We have two kids in Woodrow Wilson Academy and our experience with the school goes back the last 6 years. The school has been fantastic for that entire period. The students are great, the teachers are great, the PTA is great, the principal is great, the in-school atmosphere is great, and the education is great. Is there too much homework? Arguably. Nonetheless, I highly recommend Woodrow Wilson and anyone who thinks it has been going downhill is absolutely mistaken.

It seems since Covid there has been a steady decline. There is too much pressure on the kids to perform academically. Kids are always stressed and there is little flexibility from their strict curriculum. Teachers and administrators are not all licensed teachers and do not stay current on the changing needs to children. Instead of dealing with problem staff, they get moved around to other grades. Admins let teachers have full reign so your experience is dependent on the teacher your child has.

We are thrilled with the level of excellence Woodrow Wilson Academy provides. They engage with each student, making sure comprehension is achieved for each subject. They meet each student were they are at with leveled reading and math. They also foster self esteem and social emotional growth. The educators and staff are friendly, happy to be there, thoughtful, and encouraging. I highly recommend Woodrow Wilson academy.

Once a decent school has been in decline for the last several years. The school is plagued with favoritism towards staff and board members' kids. The administration does little to curtail bullying, especially when it's a staff or board member's kid harassing others. They rely on parents to substitute teach when the actual teacher is absent. The middle school is a mess. Half of the teachers phone it in and are more interested in being liked. Most of the "teachers" are parents of current/former WWA kids. Many don't have teaching credentials according to Great Schools. The board doesn't seem to do much and lets the principal have free reign. Avoid WWA and enroll in your kid in your neighborhood school. They seem to have higher standards and more rigorous curriculum.
