Read what parents are saying about Corwin International Magnet SchoolThis my son's first year attending this school. My son has complex health issues and mental issues. I have provided doctors notes for every absent and they still manage to push for truancy court. I swear you get no support when you have a child with special needs.
Posted by a parent on 1/10/2023Lack of control in classrooms. Physical bullying with no consequences. Terrible 6th and 7th math teachers. Fees like crazy for ridiculous items. Asked my student to buy 100 pencils on supply list.
Posted by a parent on 9/28/2016I was a student at Corwin a few years ago, and the bullying is TERRIBLE. My friend and I were literally getting beaten with textbooks and stabbed with pencils, and even though we reported it directly to the principle (showing her our bruises and puncture wounds as proof) and she literally didn't do anything. Those students went completely unpunished. The academics are okay, but really nothing above average. There are several wonderful teachers at Corwin, but many others seem to play favorites. Above all, Corwin is really not a good choice for a middle school (if you are at all concerned with the safety of your child.) Even now as a senior in high school, I have heard many of the incoming freshman say bullying at Corwin is still out of control, with little to no interference from the staff to prevent it. Please don't go here.
Posted by a community member on 6/11/2016We chose this school for our gifted and talented child because of the rigorous course work and felt like it would be the ideal school for her to learn and grow. Instead, for TWO YEARS she was incessantly bullied by other students. We brought it to the teachers, counselors, even to the principle and yet the main aggressor was NEVER punished. We were flat out told by school staff, "Well, we aren't going to do anything about it this year. Maybe next year." It's appalling. It got so bad that we ended up having to put our child in outside counseling. Even the therapist said it was not a safe environment and told us we could take legal action if we chose to pursue that avenue. The main bully has a parent that works for the district and I assume that is why he was never punished, even when he took a pencil and stabbed another student. It's a shame too, the academics are good, but if you aren't part of the "ones that started the school" you aren't welcome and they let you know it with there rude behavior. I thought this was just our family that had experienced the lack of empathy for our bullied child, but no. I have talked to SEVERAL parents that had to remove their child from the school because the bullying is accepted and the entire staff just looks the other way. I would not recommend this school to anyone, it's not worth your child's safety.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have worked around the United States as a teacher (coast to coast). Heritage Elementary School has been by far my favorite place to work. I also feel that it is the place where my best teaching (and therefore my students' best learning) took place. The students, families, and staff work really well together as a unit rather than as fragmented pieces. I am an educational doctoral candidate now and reflect on how many things this school does right (from my perspective and experience). I am forever impressed by the values and efforts put into making students feel safe, loved, supported, and challenged. In the face of enormous challenges, this school puts forth everything it can to give the best experience for students and families. As a teacher and education expert, I would send my own child here and would 100% recommend this school.Teacher Review2y ago - Bessemer Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf your child has a disability and or low social skills because of this disability they will make them sit alone at lunch and away from other kids in the classroom. They also will have them sit alone in the office for 5 hours at a time missing all that classroom instruction. They also don't tell you they do these things. You find out from multiple teachers you know who work in the building. If your child has trouble sitting still because of their disability they take away their recess everyday also. They don't realize these things take away from them building their social skills. And if your child reacts by pushing another child for scratching them, they don't allow them to go on field trips. Only the child with a disability. Not the child without one. They single out children with disabilities. This is by far the worst school in Pueblo. If your child has a disability do not send them here. The principal and counselor are rude and inconsiderate. They have no remorse for their actions and treat children and families extremely poorly. They will straight up tell you that you're a bad parent, when they're just the bad administrators. I have never been more disgusted in my life with how they treat children and families. So distasteful.Parent Review1y ago - Beulah Heights Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAmazing teachers with a horrible principal! Principal Crystal Gallegos is the rudest most atrocious person I have ever met! I honestly feel sorry for the teachers and staff! Teachers already get the short end of the stick most of the time without having such a terrible person as their boss:(Parent Review4y ago - Minnequa Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school was one of my favorite elementary schools that I've ever been to. The principal was one of my favorites there. She was so funny and helpful. The teachers there were always making sure that you did your best. The one and a half year I was there it felt like as if we were family and I felt super welcome by everybody there. I honestly wish that I could go back to elementary school (4th and 5th grade) again because that was one of the best years ever.Other Review1y ago - South Park Elementary School
