Free Horizon Montessori Charter School

We are very happy with the confidence and academic maturity my son has gained from this school. He has attended PK3, PK4 and soon to be kindergarten. Academically he is on track and in some areas exceeding his developmental milestones. The teachers are warm, knowledgeable and supportive. We will be enrolling our youngest here next year. The school schedule is still an 8:15 start time which is a huge plus for working parents.

My children (primary and lower elementary) have attended Free Horizon Montessori for 3 years now. The staff have always been friendly, supportive, and patient. They have a wonderful divergent learner support staff (for ALP, IEP, 504) and two full time mental health staff. This school has been great for my kids! The Montessori style approach is encouraging them to be independent, self-motivated critical thinkers. When they master a skill, they are shown the next appropriate progression without needing to stay within "grade level" material. I love the teachers, the support staff, and the community! I love how FHM teaches my kids about healthy boundaries, self-advocacy, and positive interrelationship exchanges. Also, (this is very important to me) the school itself is very secure and the entire FHM school works very hard to keep every student is safe. The life lessons they are getting now took me until I was an adult to understand! We love FHM and have no plans on leaving!

The administration should be fired as they have allowed teachers to verbally abuse and shame children. The outcomes are absolutely horrific and Maria Montessori must be rolling in her grave. I would not recommend this school to anyone. Children are mistreated, and they then have long-term emotionally issues to deal with. Run away from this school. The principal is completely ineffectual and not capable of running a school. When we brought our issues to her she pretended she did not know what was going on in the classroom. The teacher continued working after several children were removed from her classroom. This is not a safe school for children.

This school is unsafe, discriminatory, and sadly operates under the disguise of being a quality Montessori experience for Pre-K to 8th grade students. Unfortunately, bullying runs rampant through all ages and classrooms, as the discipline policy appears to be nonexistent. Students who cause consistent issues in the classroom are rewarded with unrestricted YouTube access and little is done to repair the behavior or environment in the class itself.

Unfortunately, we no longer feel safe at Free Horizon due to bullying by a teacher. We aren't the only family, yet nothing has been done.
