Erie High School

EHS is one of the highest ranked school in Colorado, but that’s not why it’s a top choice. EHS is a community school with wholesome kids and families. The whole town rallies around the kids by promoting sports and school spirit, even scholarships. There aren’t any serious problems like drugs or sex crimes. The kids are still mostly innocent.

It’s just okay, not gonna lieIt could be better

On paper, Erie High School fosters an inclusive environment with zero tolerance for harassment and bullying. In reality, many students are forced to keep silent about bullying through fear of repercussions. Coaches, administrators, and some teachers view complaints as irritants, and openly engage in victim-shaming. My students are fearful that if they report what they hear and experience, they'll be removed from their respective teams by coaches who see speaking up as not going with the status quo.As far as teachers, many of them are great. Others, even at the Honors level, get all of their resources (including exams) from the internet, so all classwork is searchable. Not much learning going on in those classes, sadly.One of my students has special needs, and despite having a comprehensive 504 plan, most teachers don't appear to follow it. That student is struggling, and like the bullying issue, is afraid to speak up about it.

Excellent experience so far with administration, teachers and athletic department/coaches. This is our first child to attend EHS. The other two went to high schools in Adams 12, but this has been a far superior experience all around! Very impressed and look forward to more great years as Tigers.

My child graduated in 2020 from here. This school has a culture of bullying and cliques. Many of the parents that say the environment is great are the very parents with kids who bully. If you are different, don't have a lot of money, or not in one of the town church groups, then your child will suffer at this school. It is about who knows who. The administration and teachers have kids at the school and this makes it difficult for them to enforce antibullying policy. The sexual harrassment is rampant and not dealt with. The district has a gloss it over policy. Teachers have been fired for speaking up about sex discrimination. There are reviewers here that made fun of people's grammer in their review, and that is how they teach their kids to bully. If you fit in here, you will be fine, if you are different, good luck!
