Manzanita Public Charter School

Teachers are passionate, administration really cares about the kids, and the school has a "rule of 4 program" that challenges the kids to be better people... it's not just about academics. Communication with families is outstanding! Also, the superintendent secured additional grant/funding to break ground on new buildings, and the school will work to challenge your kids if they are performing beyond the curriculum. There is a reason that there is often an enrollment wait list at Manzanita. We checked out 3 elementary schools in the area before deciding on Manzanita. We could not be happier with our decision to enroll our kids at Manzanita!

We have been with this school for 5 years. In 2014 the founders were ousted and replaced with an extremely exploitive director. There is a climate of competition, descrimination, manipulation, and oppression. How the school looks on paper is the primary current focus, which is leading to marginalization of the most vulnerable families. Families who aren't ideal to the agenda are being run out. Teacher morale (as well as family involvement) have been declining. To top it all off it is a charter school, so there is absolutely no accountability for what is going on. I recommended dozens of families to this school over the years, not anymore. Sad really.

I have 2 children in this school and they are thriving in this individualized instruction model. This school uses metrics to evaluate curriculum effectiveness, while allowing teachers complete flexibility in the classroom to implement what works. Amazingly nurturing environment!

This school is a Bucket Filling School! The teachers call the students scholars and they treat them like scholars. I enrolled my children (scholars) three years ago and they love the school. Thank you for filling our buckets Manzanita staff!

What a wonderful charter school. As a military family we move often and our daughters have attended several other schools. Manzanita is the finest by far, the students, teachers, office staff, and principal are amazing. When you walk on that campus you feel the energy. There are smiles everywhere.
