Read what parents are saying about Marshall (Thurgood) High SchoolDuring my time at Thurgood Marshall Academic High School, I was challenged in all of my classes, and I felt like I always had an adult at school that I could trust. Additionally, I like how are school, is small because it's almost like we're one big family, and even though we're different one thing we all have in common is we all care about one another. Furthermore, I know that Marshal was not my first choice but to any new students, Marshall is a great school with some very great teachers and lots of support.

Posted by a student on 11/19/2018I am the parent of twins here. They have excelled at Thurgood. There is lots of clubs, sports and different activities for them to be involved in here. They have maintained honor roll grades while taking honor classes. The teachers seem to really challenge these young bright minds. I am very happy with our choice of Thurgood!

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAll the teachers favored kids who exceeded and neglected other students. In middle school, everything was old my locker was rusted, and it was not in good condition. We had a period called flex which was free time, but a homeroom teacher just kept us in to do other stuff instead of giving us freedom. They also force religion on you, and it gets really annoying. We did not talk about real-world topics like racism, sexism, colorism, exploring sexualities, homophobia, transphobia, and other topics. Since they did not like to talk about those things, most students grew up very close-minded and very judgy. Most students mocked George Floyd's death, showed transphobia to other students, and made racist jokes about students that are of a different race. The teaching quality was terrible, a certain teacher taught too fast and when we gave her feedback, she changed nothing. The students also were influenced badly and were really rude. They were not accepting of other students, and they liked to gaslight and bully other students (past experience). also, people are just fake there! Kids with special needs were treated really badly and faced ableism. There was one kid with ADHD who had trouble focusing in class so people mocked him and said he was faking ADHD and said some other things about him which I will not state. In general, DO NOT COME TO THIS SCHOOL YOU WILL LITERALLY FACE SO MUCH TRAUMA LIKE THIS IS NOT GOOD.Parent Review1y ago - San Francisco School, The

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAbsolutely loved attending this school. I entered in the 6th grade having previously gone to a public elementary school. The transition was perfect. The learning environment was challenging and encouraging. The music department is one of the best things the school has to offer, which is saying a lot. Definitely one of the best communities I have ever been apart of.Other Review4y ago
