completely baffled at the lack of competence and disregard to the real issues that any public school will face and the willingness to turn the blind eye to the abuse and the lack of proper education that most of there students receive...

I have 2 children at Miwok now and both absolutely love it! Having experience with TK, K and now 1st grade - the teachers are amazing, taking the time to individualize learning and tools for kids at different levels. The monthly fun-run's are great for exercise (under the health and wellness charter) as well as school moral, the weekly rally's are fun and very positive. The fact that the staff all truly care for each and stay there because of each other really shows how caring the learning environment is. I feel like the PTO is recovering from covid as older parents/students moved on, but there is a great energy from the new/young parents who want to build up this community :)

I teach at this school, so I am obviously biased. With that up front, I will say that we have a wonderful group of students and staff who make each day a pleasure. Our principal sets a positive energy tone and our students respond so well. McDowell has some special attractions that you may wish to know about. Each student receives PE from a PE specialist each week. There are weekly music classes from dedicated music instructors. Our Spanish language classes, taught by Maestra Hancock, provide academic Spanish for all students twice a week. McDowell's Family Resource Center is just that...a wonderful source of help for all of our families. Other features of our school include before school day care and after school programs offered by the Boys and Girls Club, intervention and enrichment classes after school, frequent field trips to engaging environmental and cultural destinations, and more. I could say more, but best to come visit if you are interested in placing your student into a school in Petaluma. You won't be disappointed. Enseño en esta escuela, así que obviamente soy parcial. Nuestras clases de español, impartidas por Maestra Hancock, brindan español académico para todos los estudiantes dos veces por semana. El Centro de Recursos Familiares de McDowell es precisamente eso ... una fuente maravillosa de ayuda para todas nuestras familias. If your values align with Waldorf education, you will love Live Oak. I have had experiences with many schools, and it is by far my favorite. Great kids, community, teachers, curriculum and values.

Harvest is such a supportive and structured atmosphere. The staff are always smiling and welcoming. My children can’t wait to go to school and are involved in activities. I would absolutely recommend this traditional learning environment!
