Read what parents are saying about Dr. Herbert Guice Christian AcademyDr. Herbert Guice has provided my children with an awesome foundation in education. My children are thriving in Middle school and High school. I love the small family oriented community.
Posted by a parent on 4/29/2014Guice Christian Academy is one of the best private schools in the Bay Area, offering students a well rounded education within their community. Students learn how to take pride in themselves and their community. They also are given skills to compete in a global market. My five children have gone through the academy and have found academic success in middle and high school while maintaining high standards of excellence.
Posted by a parent on 10/24/2013My children are currently students at Dr. Herbert Guice Christian Academy and I am more than happy to provide a review of the school. My children are participating in the city wide oratorical which is held annually and they have been asked to share what they have learned over the years at many engagements including the Black History program for Bart and the Golden State Warriors. They receive Christian education as an added bonus, this is in addition to the 3R's and a foreign language. I am confident that the education they are receiving now is preparing them for high school and life.
Posted by a parent on 2/12/2013My child currently attends and I am overall pleased with my child's successes at the school.

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son went here for kindergarten and loved it even though most of it was online. Later he was able to do twice a week for a few hours and I got to meet more staff. The teachers were amazing as well as all the staff that worked here while my son attended. My son learned so much here which was a surprise with a lot of it being remote. I really appreciate the time and care the teachers and staff put into the students. It was really nice that even the principal met with the kindergartners and talked to them once a week with another teacher doing an activity with the kids over Zoom. I thought that was really nice for the principal to do that with his busy schedule so I can just imagine I know he do that for all classes. The facility is clean, well kept, and looked like they were expanding. I changed my son’s school to something closer to our house but I do miss him going to this school. We ended up at this school bc I was way past the registration deadline and this was 1 of 2 schools left with availability so I chose this since it was just down the street from his daycare in case she needed to take him or pick him up. We live in fruitvale but if we were to ever move to this area I would definitely re-enroll him again here. I’m really glad I didn’t judge this school off the low scores I saw online which I did my own research on, on how a lot of those scores are biased bc it’s based off the neighborhood and demographics.Parent Review2y ago - Encompass Academy Elementary

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSo I had a bad experience at a charter school in Oakland and this school came highly recommended, so I enrolled my daughter here. This was the worst decision I’ve ever made in my life and I feel so bad because I feel like I failed my daughter. Every day it was something. The kids were beyond evil and mean. They were disrespectful and bullies. My daughter was jumped twice at the neighboring library and the footage was uploaded to Instagram. The kids were so underprivileged and it showed and they took it out on my daughter. The principal told me it was an inclusive school, which I had no clue of. Basically it meant she couldn’t turn any students down. So my daughter was in class with slow kids, kids with behavioral problems, kids with learning disabilities, kids that don’t speak English and so on. I’ve sat in her classrooms on several occasions and it was like a zoo. Kids were up playing around with toys, talking, not paying attention and the teacher didn’t say one word! If the kids couldn’t understand something and would raise their hand for clarification, they were either scolded or ignored. Half of her math and science class was in Spanish for the non English speakers. I attended a parent/student night which displayed the kids work and my daughter’s paper had so many grammatical errors. I pointed it out to the teacher and she told me she had too many students and didn’t have time to correct everyone’s paper. Then to make matters worst, the principal is a fake and far from a problem solver. Because I cared about my daughter’s education and well being, I became a nuisance to her and she always stood up for the bad kids. That school is a joke. There is absolutely no learning or discipline going on there at all. The teachers, especially 4th grade, seemed tired, burnt out and like they could careless about the students education. They need a serious revamp. My daughter came home upset every single day, so I said enough is a enough, so I pulled her out. If you are a parent that cares about your child’s education and well being PLEASE AVOID THIS SCHOOL BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!!!! OUSD needs to step in and do a serious investigation/evaluation on everyone there from the principal on down. The principal is real good at pretending her school is problem free and covering up the nonsense and real issues that go on there.Parent Review5y ago - Acorn Woodland Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averagewhen is time to help your kid they instead send them to the office and private them from learning instead of offering help to the teacher such as a teacher Aid or less students so they can be in a smaller ratio for the teacher...... bad experience to the point that I feel that they discriminate my kidParent Review10mo ago - East Oakland Leadership Academy
