Read what parents are saying about Los Molinos Elementary SchoolMy kids have been at this school for years. Honestly, I wish I had chosen a different school. Pros:- The faculty has some really lovely teachers- If you're an evangelical Christian, they pretty much run it like a church school.- The PTA puts on a lot of events and makes a lot of balloon arches.- The school office manager is kind and helpful.- The children are generally respectful of each other and bullying is limited.Cons:- If you're not an evangelical Christian you will feel excluded and be made uncomfortable frequently.- No arts education outside of very few classes.- They extracurricular programs are limited, the ones that do exist are exclusive, and allow very few children participate.- The current administration is flakey and inconsistent and operates in crisis mode.- They don't understand correlation and causation, and associate overburdening children with school work as the reason for high performance.- There is no gifted curriculum, and very poor application of services for delayed students (however, if your child is a robot they will thrive here, especially if they are programmed to test well and complete hundreds of worksheets a year).- The PTA is run as a clique and charges $ for EVERY single one of its events. I have not heard of any exceptions for lower income families.- The teachers are inflexible and seem to have very little accountability.
Posted by a parent on 9/22/2023My son is learning a lot more at Los Molinos compared other schools in the district. Great teachers and lots of projects even in Kindergarten.
Posted by a parent on 1/31/2023The teachers are great, however, the school is filthy and needs a deep cleaning everyday. It is small school physically yet alot of students are coming and its very overcrowded now. The parking is horrible. Drivers are changing lanes like crazy and its not safe to even walk.
Posted by a parent on 7/19/2019Mrs. Soo Hoo is an amazing teacher. She challenges the students to work to the best of their individual abilities. She's firm, yet fair. She's an incredible asset to the school.
Posted by a parent on 5/22/2018My son graduated from Los Molinos TK program in May 2017. Mrs. Adam was the TK teacher, and she was an awesome teacher that exceeds our expectation. We were sad about sending our boy to TK while his preschool friends are all in the K already. But his TK year turned out to be a blessing for him. During his year in Mrs. Adam's class, he has learned so much "out side of the curriculum", they explored the nature, learned 52 states in songs, they also perform an opera ! To concluded this TK year, the class is not all about academics, but it is a mind opening experience, my son can actually talk broader subjects than his sister (1st grade at another school). Mrs. Adam did a excellent job in preparing kids forward to K, or even advanced, 1st grade. I've heard some of her TK kids got promoted to K-1st combo class, which is great ! For new parents in Mrs. Adam's TK class, my suggestion is to give teacher sometime, you'd be very surprised to see your kids are actually learning a lot while they "seemed to be playing".

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThere is no Place like SML! We love the loving environment . Parents support each other. Kids support each other. The students are kind, thoughtful , and compassionate. Academics are a priority while there are still so many opportunities for fun. I have never seen an elementary school with so much opportunity to try something new. They have sports teams, robotics, walking club, Pod cast, Drama, cooking class, chess club, the list goes on and on. You can find what works for the individual student. This is our 13th year as an SML family. Our oldest daughter is in her Senior Year of High school. She was very prepared for High school. She was surprised how her preparation surpassed so many of her peers she is in private school. She was ahead of many classmates in her Math skills and writing ability. Your child will thrive at SML and will never want to leave. This is our last year and we will go kicking and screaming..Parent Review10mo ago - Montessori School of Hacienda Heights
