It does a good job at providing students a second chance at getting their diploma. Like most public schools, it's underfunded. This means less-than-average food, outdated workbooks, and overworked teachers. The teachers, staff and counselors (special shoutout to Karla Talkoff and Liz DeNatale) genuinely care for the students' futures, but it's up to each student to meet them halfway and to put effort into their own education. Students' homework is usually in the form of handbooks and the occasional short essay -- the usual. School gets out around 12:30 because students must earn elective credits by doing community service or a work program. I transferred to here from OHS due to a lot of emotional and mental stress, and at Thornton I chose to study hard and work towards graduation. While some peers slacked off, some peers socialized, and others seemed as if they couldn't have cared less about their education, the majority of my classmates worked hard and walked across the stage alongside me. Thornton has a bad reputation but it was my saving grace, for which I am really thankful for.

Liberian is a dictator of what u can say. No freedom of speech horrible food teachers care less about the students the english teacher has a heavy accent which makes it hard for foreign students to learn english. This school needs to be shut down n open back up by people who care and r educated.
