Read what parents are saying about Oakwood Academy/ElementaryThe teachers and environment is very pleasant and welcoming. It is a great atmosphere for learning.
Posted by a community member on 2/13/2019" We only cater to a certain group". These are the words of the principal. This is the truth. This is the school where students are promoted and elevated based on their last name. Students do not excel at this school based on merit. If you have a PhD, M.D., D. Min or D.M.A your child will praised and ranked above the others. This the good old Seventh Day Adventist System. You don't have to take my word for it. This is not Christianity.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageKids run wild in the hall. Walk into the classes and sse if you notice any structured learning going on. Chromebooks not being used effectively, kids sitting and rawing in Science classes, etc. Their scores would improve if they went back to the good ol' way of teaching and take the toys out of their hands.Parent Review4y ago - Academy For Science & Foreign Language

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePrimary education (K-5) is important. A failure to teach children or supply parents with essential information to assist their students in the learning experience is a catalyst at this school. Excuses are consistently made without regards to the student’s educational experience. I do NOT recommend this school.Other Review3mo ago - Highlands Elementary School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a substitute teacher and have worked in several different schools in Huntsville. I have worked both in the inner city schools as well as the suburbs. In every school I have been in I have been able to find something good. This school is a mess. The teachers do not discipline at all (I am sure that there are some exceptions) leading the children to act like a pack of wild dogs. The kids fight (even girl against boy) constantly. The kids know that they will get away with anything and are full of hatred for the world, I really feel sorry for any child that had to go to this school. The principle walks around like he is a runway model and dose little or nothing. If you live in this area do everything you can to keep your kids out of this school. The place is like a prison.Other Review12y ago - The Country Day School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has attended the preschool and summer camp at The Country Day School for a year now. I love bringing family with us when dropping him off or picking him up because they can see for themselves what a special place it is. There is an abundance of space both indoors and out for children to explore and play which can be difficult to find in many daycares and preschool environments. In every nook and cranny there are interesting materials for the children to utilize. There are two goats the children get to help feed at times, gardens they help plant, grow, harvest and market to the parents, and a forest and creek to explore. If you are a believer of allowing children to learn and grow not only through direct teaching but also through exploration and play with experienced and caring teachers as their guides, then this is the place for you. My child has truly thrived at The Country Day School.Parent Review6y ago - Islamic Academy of Huntsville

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was a parent and a teacher at Heritage Christian School. My son and I loved it. The atmosphere here was great and there was a small student/teacher ratio. We moved in 2004-600 miles away. He still hears from his friends at Heritage. This is a great school if you want your child/children to go where the classes are small and the people care about about your child. Lynn GibbsParent Review12y ago
