Parent of 2 at this school for several years now and I am consistently amazed and impressed with the quality of education and experience of learning for my children. The staff and teachers are devoted to their school and classrooms. The style of EL education is just incredible to see how much all the children in each class excel and are immersed in their hands on approach to learning. Children are heavily involved in the community, families are welcoming and supportive, and there is strong involvement of families within the school and classrooms. This school is truly a community and prepares its students to be successful and valuable members (and leaders!) of society and within any school they attend following grade 6. We absolutely love and cherish this school and are blessed to be part of it and able to provide our children with this amazing opportunity. We love everything about this school.
Rochester Prep is tough I know but lets be honest the world is not a cake walk either. I enjoy speaking with the teachers and the principle, they put in the effort to make sure our children will succeed I appreciate their strategy. A lot of parents I know that complain about the lessons and the homework are lazy or just don't understand the work, so they snatch their kids out and put them back in the schools that really can care less about their childs academics. As long as they don't bring those binders home they ok. Not mines they will work hard now so it will be a cake walk when they go to a prestigious college. We need more African American and Latinos or as we are known "minorities" that Graduate with a PhD from Harvard and other great colleges that they don't expect us to be in. So buckle down for your child and if this school is too hard for you and your child then do what's best for you and them all of mine will continue to get the structure and the education. Thank you all Rochester Prep Faculty we appreciate you!!
I would rate this school a 1, this charter school needs structure for the children. the kids are all over the place and there is much favoritism. I question if many of the educators have the requirements needed to teach the children or work with children in general. The teachers seem not to communicate with each other regarding the students. This school reminds me of how schools are run back home in Puerto Rico. EMHCS was recommended to me by a friend and when my children where accepted everything was great, recently they have had a high turn over in employees. If you have had a child in this school for a long time you can tell that the recent changes have disrupted much of how this school was functioning. it seems as though no one really knows what there doing, there just going with the flow. Teachers here have no patience with children and if your child has a need I would not recommend you placing the child at this school. they aren't equipped to deal with the kids now, let alone a child who may need extra attention. This school is also packed beyond capacity which can be another reason for the lack of structure for the kids. At first it was great but once the administration changed you can definitely see the difference even in the children. Many of the teachers are rude and unprofessional with Parents and with the children. My children will be attending another school this coming year.
