The community, teachers and principal really care about this school and it shows. I'm very happy with my children's education, I feel like they're safe and being challenged, and everyone is working hard and involved for the right reasons.

Horrible school. Felt completely unsafe teaching there. Students had no expectations placed onto them at the beginning of the school year, so there are basically "no rules." Students use their phone during class, eat meals and leave the mess, and spray water in the hallways and on desks, causing people to slip. I was told by a staff member that, "grades do not matter (unless the student is in sports) and that they know grades do not matter because they cannot be held back/retained. The punitive punushment and suspensions used at Taft are through the roof, as the answer to any behavioral problems is to take the students out of the classroom. Students with special needs and ELL's are also not being supported with any form of IEP, EA, or instructional support. Overall, I feared for my life at this school. On my first day, I was supposed to be given a tour of the school and no one knew about it. The principal was doing a coffee run for his coworker while I navigated the school almost by myself. The staff has no clue how bad they are failing their kids. This school is a disaster.

My daughter had two years at Valley High School, and her time there was definitely negative for the most part. I will do all that I can to get her into a better school. I rate VHS very poorly.
