I was selling my mom's house there and had my parents pick the realtor. I had misgivings about Colin's experience when I talked to him but listened to my parents who said to use him. In our conversation I had to explain to him about the necessary things that needed to be fixed before making the house presentable for showing. The pictures on the listing showed the overgrown bushes before they were cut, and there were typos on the listing to name a few issues I experienced. As I do not reside in Alabama, I relied on him to tell me of any house issues. In following up on the showings, he informed me of the carpet in one room being bad, something I was never informed of before house showings. One of his ideas was to remove the carpet and say oil was spilled on it. I contacted his broker Tom who told me he would look at the house and get back to me, which he never did. I felt it better to terminate the relationship with Colin given my concerns and wrote him a termination letter stating the end of our relationship and the effective date. His ensuing messages to me accused me of being untrustworthy, underhanded, and unethical. I had asked friends who are realtors my rights and also his broker. I copied the broker on my letter. Colin indicated he was unaware of the rules and would have to discuss it with his broker which would be three days away. Yet per my letter, the relationship was terminated that night. In follow up messages from Colin, he reported he removed the lockbox and sign but no mention about the key. I did not received any responses from him about the key although he did say he would never sell the house. I did receive one message from the broker saying he would get the key to my new realtor. I felt it necessary to write of my experience. I have sold many houses in the past and have never experienced such unprofessional behavior.
