- Helped me sell a home
My father passed away at 98 in June, 2017, kindly leaving me his house. His house was full of memories and it had a lifetime's collection of stuff in it, not to mention all the tools and auto parts in the garage and workroom. Sylvia was referred to me by my attorney. I had already interviewed another realtor, but felt that that realtor wasn't listening to me and was just using strategies that worked in La Cañada, an upper middle-class neighborhood. My father's house was in a less expensive neighborhood and most of the people moving in were very different from people seeking homes in La Cañada. Sylvia listened and she understood. She explained what she thought would be the best strategy for selling the house. It made sense and it accommodated my situation. Her suggestions for minimally staging the house were excellent. It took me a lot longer than I had estimated, to clear out that house, spruce it up a little, and stage it. She was patient. She never put pressure on me, but she did offer advice and had the names of professionals who could help. The way she set the initial price and negotiated with the buyers was both respectful and highly effective. She and her partner, Chuck, solved a number of practical problems (like getting the garage door to work) and they made the selling and escrow process so easy! In the end, I received a very good price for the house. Working with her was so pleasant and easy. She was always positive and one of the most likable people I know.
