Heidi was supposed to help us look at a certain rental property in the Northern Virginia area. We ended up getting to see it, after she told us that they would not allow us to have a pet, even though the MRIS listing said case-by-case. We ended up not liking it anyways, so she showed us a few others in the area. We told her what we were looking for, and what our price range was, and by the end of the day, we found one we really liked. Problem was, it was almost $400 a month out of our budget, but we said forget it, we love it, and decided to put an application in. That's where it got "fun." Heidi never once called us. We had to call her if we wanted to talk to her. Strike one. When we put in the application, there were multiple communication issues. Not returning our calls, saying we would receive a call back and never getting one, and also never really getting a straight answer. She told us there was another application in, that was wrong. She told us we needed another $2,100 "security deposit, or first months rent whatever you want to call it." This was a major red flag for us, because there is a HUGE difference between a security deposit and a month's worth of rent. We never found out what they really wanted. Strike two. Strike three was when we had to personally contact the property management company to find out why our real estate agent would not communicate with us. Sadly, our application ended up being denied (and I believe that this was because of miscommunication between the two agents) and we ended up being so traumatized by all of this that we didn't even want the townhouse anymore. This process was VERY stressful for us, and hope others do not make the same mistake. I would not recommend Ms. Kabler to anyone, especially first time home buyers or renters in the area.
