4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLearning:BHS has some really fun classes but also some really boring classes. Most of the teachers make it fun. However, I would say about 15%, give or take, students don't wanna be there or aren't excited about the learning.Special Education:From my understanding, students with disabilities are cared for and have accommodations, but frankly it could be better.Teaching:I have yet to meet one terrible teacher. Yes, some students dislike some teachers because of a bad experience, typically of the students own fault. Mrs. Glisch, Mr. Gribble, and Mr. Nie are the best hands down, so nice, welcoming, and funny.Safety:The school itself is rather safe, I'd say. However, bullying and discrimination from students is very present and I haven't seen any members of the administration actually do anything about it. The counselors are less than satisfactory, taking a while to respond, if ever (and sometimes they aren't even helpful). There are fights sometimes and also threats to the school, but they have been handled as they occur, but not stopped or prevented.Social-Emotional Support:Some teachers will ask students about themselves and if they are doing okay. Some teachers have the suicide prevention hotline posted on the wall somewhere. We even have an awareness day of it. But BHS isn't doing the best it can. I know many people who've wanted to end it or hurt themselves and BHS hasn't done anything or tried to help or prevent it.Family Engagement:Many families engage with BHS, some families are even apart of the schools (i.e. teachers). Most families do help with volunteering and like helping with the Musicals and such. Pretty good overall.Final Verdict:Burlington High School can either be a fun experience or a mediocre experience. Learning is fun, teachers get students engaged in the material and explain it really well. BHS provides for disabled students and accommodate rather well, but could do more. Teachers are the best I've ever known, and I've studied at exactly 6 schools and none of them even compare to these teachers. Families engage with the school on a regular basses and have no problem with it. Quite a few students are discriminated against by their fellow peers, I've seen it and I've heard it. I've been scared to do things because I don't want to be harmed by my peers. Also, BHS could do more for our mental health.Thank you for reading.Student Review1y ago - Nettie E Karcher School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI work at Karcher School over the summer and I see that kids really engage in their classrooms during summer school. The principal and staff are very accommodating. I enjoy working at their school because its an up to date state of the art facility, they use the latest cleaning technology. They care about their kids there.Other Review10mo ago - Cooper Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy one daughter really enjoyed it here, but she is much different from my other youngest child. She is very bubbly and met her best friend there, but my youngest was bullied a lot and now believes its her fault because she often wore the same clothes. Not sure what I am supposed to say about that. The teachers could also be better, it's based on luck if you get a nice, respectable teacher or a rude, old one. Other than that, and the drama between students, the school is alright.Parent Review2y ago - Check out schools near 245 Lewis St.

"The city has a very cute downtown area that allows for adequate parking and the ability to walk around and not feel like you need to watch your every move. Neighbors help each other wherever we can whether it’s helping with cutting the lawn to help watch each other’s children. "

"I am born and raised in Burlington. Normally people who spend their whole lives in a small town hate it. Its just not the case in Burlington. I have seen a lot of people leave then find out later they have returned because you cant match the wonder atmosphere of Burlington. There is wonderful night life for adults. Tons of family restaurants. And lots of parks for the kids. All in all its a Great little town with a lot to offer just about anybody."
