2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI agree with what the previous replies here have to say. The teachers are very kind and genuine people, and you can tell that they love what they do. My personal problem lies with the counselors. They do not reply to emails at all. And even if they do, expect a one-week gap. You could email them the most important and urgent thing ever, but they still wouldn't bat an eye. This is extremely annoying to me as it feels like I do not have a genuine support system that I can go to in the case I need help with anything. In simple terms, they are completely unreliable counselors. I hope they get replaced with people who are actually good at their jobs and are willing to provide real support to students instead of passing everything by.Student Review6mo ago - Gray Middle School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is bad don't let any other review tell you other wise. I was a student there for one year and halfway through the year i already wanted to leave the place. These reviews need to be centered on the student's thoughts not a parents or a staff 's.Most of the students here are very irresponsible and care more about being cool, hanging out with there friends, and drama instead of doing any kind of work. Most students don't even pay attention to the teachers. The things the kinds say to each other are horrible. A student can not go any were in the school without hearing some bad language or hurtful comments to them or another student. The teachers are professional in what they do. There are some that stick out like a sore thumb that almost seem like they don't know what there doing and messed up constantly. One teacher punished my entire class for something a few people did, another after school for almost 4 minutes and i almost missed my bus and i didn't do anything! The sports programs are something i didn't join, but i know were good due to my classmate's thoughts about them. After-school programs i have no idea about. I hope everyone at this school reads this.My Initial CVOther Review10y ago - Whittier

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFormer Panther here and now a Mom of a Kindergarten student. My whole family lives in Fircrest and both my nieces have also attended Whittier and are now in 8th and 10th grade. I was so excited for my son to start school here but it’s not the same as it once was. The boundaries have been revised since the opening of Wainwright and the demographics of Whittier have changed in a negative way. My sons teacher is phenomenal but his classmates have so many behavior issues that he’s not getting the full experience he deserves. Lunch and recess are a nightmare for him due to bullying and my once school loving son hates going to school. As I mentioned before his teacher is awesome but the school overall is suffering and it’s sad to see my son have this experience. It’s gotten so bad that I am transferring him to Sherman next year to get away from children who call him a little b*** h and punch him at lunch time. Whoever revised the boundaries of Fircrest did a disservice to everyone in the community, my son included.Parent Review6y ago - Wainwright

"I think that it is a really nice area or neighborhood to either retire in or to raise young kids or children in. they have excellent schools in the district tons of parks and playgrounds and walking trails and even a dog park close by along with shopping stores and convenient stores all less than 10 mins away. there is also easy access to public transportation and everything you can possibly think of is less than 10 to 15 mins away driving or by bus"
