This charming, light-filled home is perfect for professionals or families. It is located on a quiet street in one of Seattle's most desired neighborhoods, among a community of people who love the neighborhood and who look out for each other.
This Saltbox-style home is a short walk to a good elementary school, three blocks to Lake Washington and the Laurelhurst Beach Club for sailing and swimming, and walking distance to neighborhood restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores and mass transit. The University of Washington light rail station is a two miles away. The house is half-block to Laurelhurst Park's jogging path, little league fields, lighted tennis courts and jaw-dropping views of Mount Rainier, the Cascades and Olympic Mountains. Enormous Magnuson Park is a five minute drive down the road. It features walking trails, soccer fields, swimming, picnicking, a boat launch and a fabulous enclosed dog park that has access to Lake Washington for dogs who like to swim. University Village is just down the hill. It has boutiques and stores like Pottery Barn along with an Apple Store, restaurants and summer concerts.
For commuters, the house is a three block walk to Children’s Hospital and a quick bike ride or 5 minute drive to the University of Washington and University Hospital. The downtown is 10 minutes away in one direction, while Bellevue is 10-15 minutes in the other…without traffic.
The main floor of the home features hardwood floors, a small elegant living room with a wood burning fireplace, a dining or music room, a bedroom or office), a full bath and a kitchen/family room. Friends especially enjoy hanging out in the kitchen/family room that opens up to the backyard. The kitchen has a large butcher block and porcelain counters that make meal preparation easy, along with a Bosch refrigerator, a JennAir gas range and new dishwasher. The kitchen is open to a family room with dining and TV spaces. The south-facing wall of the room has a large sliding glass door that opens onto a brick patio, vegetable and flower planting beds and a small shaded garden. The owners pay a gardener for mowing and do occasional weeding. Renters will be required to water flower beds during dry season. Tenants are welcome to plant flowers or vegetables. The backyard is entirely fenced for kids or a dog. A dog will be welcome if it isn’t a barker or an aggressive dog. Cats are not allowed.
The upper level features a full bath with the toilet and shower/tub separated from the skylight lit sink area. Two of the bedrooms have ample closet space and bright territorial views. The third bedroom, a master, has a walk-in closet that connects to the bathroom. The bedroom’s seven windows bring in light from the west, north and east yet the room has privacy with views above the tops of the trees and houses.
The basement features a shared storage space and washer and dryer. The home is served by an updated electrical system and a high efficiency gas furnace. The renter is responsible for utilities.
*A portion of the basement has been converted to a mother-in-law apartment which the owners use on occasional visits to town. It has a secure separate outside entry and separate electrical and gas. Garbage is shared with the owner but our use is very light. The rental price reflects an offset for that.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWonderful school in a wonderful area with excellent teachers. My kids thrived at Eckstein. The school is very academically strong, the band program is a standout, test scores are among the highest in the state. Kids can walk to several local businesses for after school hangouts, the area is beautiful and thriving. Lucky kids!Parent Review5mo ago - Laurelhurst Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe most important things for my kids to get out of elementary school, are a strong foundation for reading, writing and math skills, in addition to excellent social, emotional learning skills. Laurelhurst meets all of these priorities, especially the social emotional learning piece due to the special education program. No school is perfect, including this one, but I can’t imagine a better place for my kids.Parent Review11mo ago - Roosevelt High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child thrived at Roosevelt. She had several dynamic teachers who engaged her academic curiosity, and she found her cohort in a large, supportive group of theater kids. Being a large public high school, Roosevelt won't be the right fit for every student - no school can be. But Roosevelt benefits from having a lot of engaged parents in an affluent part of the city, with resources from the University of Washington nearby. The light-rail station across the street (opening fall 2021) will make it easier for students from other parts of the city to get there.Parent Review2y ago - Check out schools near 4833 NE 42nd St.
