6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAdams Elementary has a special Social Emotional curriculum that started post covid, and as a result I think students have better conflict resolution skills and value kindness above other traits. We have been at Adams 7 years between two kids and it’s a truly wonderful school.Parent Review4mo ago - Ballard High School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI had a pretty good experience here after transferring from another school. The building itself could really use an extra wing, though. Most of the hallways and staircases are so narrow and they get extremely packed when kids get out of class, to the point that I genuinely believe there would be causalities in the event of a fire, for example. The only open spaces where you can stop getting pushed around is 2 of the entrances and a cafeteria. Seriously, as schools get more populated, this place would give me claustrophobia if they tried to accommodate more kids. Also a LOT of the students tried to peer pressure me into buying coke lmao, what a waste of money. Mostly good teachers though.Parent Review3y ago - Whitman Middle School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am writing from my own family's perspective. My child is smart, capable and attentive -- and students like this are utterly ignored at Whitman, save by a few very skilled and committed teachers. I cannot speak to other types of students or the school's or district's efforts to support them. But over three years at Whitman (one entirely remote during the pandemic, and we were willing to give the school a pass there), my child only worked hard and learned in only a few classes. The rest of the time she was BORED and unchallenged and routinely just left to read on her own, or watch videos on her phone, or whatever when she finished her work. That is unacceptable. Summary: - A few math teachers and one history teacher were excellent and managed to teach appropriately to the wide variety of skill levels of students in the class. Which is hard to do, I understand, but it should be managed better than this.- The rest of her teachers were not unpleasant. They just mostly failed to teach smart kids who learn quickly. She spent hours every day doing nothing. I don't think she read an entire book and did a thorough project/book report in English class over three years. (There was some in-class, out-loud reading; strange for an 8th grade class.) There was almost nothing substantive in science, over all three years, and no real hands-on experiments. - There is a serious lack of electives available. If your student does not do Spanish or music (highly recommend doing these, if your child goes to Whitman!), which continue through the whole year, there are simply not enough semester-long options for the kids to take. So they end up being "TAs," which essentially means doing nothing, again. No one told us that in advance. We were really disappointed with this school. We expected better from Seattle Public Schools. Highly capable students should be able to receive a solid education from their neighborhood school. We were not asking for amazing, just for pretty good.Parent Review4mo ago - Check out schools near 2652 NW 59th Street UNIT B.

"Not that great for long pretty walks in my opinion, plenty of car filled streets. Can be better walking areas somewhere else."

"So many sidewalks with different flowers and plants to sniff! I bring my dog on a different route every single day and he loves the neighborhood "

"Lots of dog walking in the neighborhood. Close proximity to off leash dog park near Golden Gardens. Sometimes people let their dogs off leash, not good."
- Trulia User

"Great schools, parks, and bakeries. Easy access to downtown when you need it. Safe community without the cons of other neighborhoods (Cap Hill, West Seattle, Fremont). "

"Very easy to get to the highway, downtown, and any other neighborhood really. Public transit is easy to get to"
- Trulia User

"Fairly safe neighborhood, but high density living. Parking is often a challenge and garbage pick up is intermittent where I live."
- Trulia User

"Abysmal, I live in sunset hill and commute to my office in pioneer square. I used to take public transportation but the busses are extremely inconsistent and my commute time could be anywhere from 30 mins to 90 mins. The city has closed multiple bus stops in the neighborhood (pre-Covid) and the traffic pattern is super wacky. Pretty neighborhood though. "

"This neighborhood has an amazing vibe! I love the farmer's market here. Bus lines are conveniently located and it is only a 30 minute ride to Seattle downtown."

"It used to be a great neighborhood. Over the last 3 years it’s really gone down hill. Homeless people are everywhere, drug users and needles on the sidewalks. We used to love this place, lived in Ballard for 8 years, "

"Over run by homeless population living in tents - hypodermic needles, open drug use, scary mental illness - all in your own front yard. Walkability used to be amazing before we became too scared to walk anywhere. "
- Ashley R.

"Plenty of other dog owners in the area with creates a great sense of community! Not much to dislike as a dog owner other than there aren’t any parks for them to play because homeless people live in the nearby parks. "
- Logan N. B.

"people love their dogs here. a lot of dog friendly apartments, and dogs out walking, at any given time. "
- Ian S.

"Avoid the park by QFC, there are many homeless people. Overall a safe and fun community................."
- Nook

"Take 40 to get to Southlake, and the commute is about 35 minutes roughly. Bus comes pretty often as well so that's clutch"
- Taylor A. Crockett
- Resident

"Make sure your kids understand how to deal with the mentally ill because for every person that buys up a home for a million dollars, there are people displaced in the area. The public areas are not all treated alike."
- Tessa B.

"The most walkable area I’ve ever lived. Awesome community. Really good food and shops. Beautiful outdoor spaces like the Ballard locks and golden gardens."
