10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBoth of my sons went to Eastlake High School and ENJOYED it. This is definitely NOT a typical American high school.Pros: Teachers - This school simply has the best teachers. All of the teachers, unlike most schools, are extremely experienced, dedicated, supportive, and caring to the students and actually take the time. The class sizes are fairly small and no behavior issues. They also have classes every other day allowing in-depth instruction. My kids' counselors were very supportive and responsive, and would help them with anything they needed. There is even a Wolf Time during the day for support. It seems like the teachers LOVE to help - most high schools don't.Classes- There are so many AP classes, which are useful for college and offer courses for students' diverse interests. There are also dual credit opportunities.Activities - There are sooooo many sports/clubs to choose from. My older son played varsity basketball, my younger one played football. Both also did debate. Cons: Of course no school is perfect, and there are minor cons.School Culture: This is a somewhat "cliquey" school, not as much as Skyline or Redmond HS though. The teachers here try to be inclusive but many students aren't. It is quite a bit competitive, having 2000+ students. The school does get crowded but not to the extent to disrupt student learning. Teachers Age: Some of the AP teachers, while experienced, are nearing retirement age and have poor attendance/health issues, not a big problem though. TLDR: this is an above average school as the teachers are great, classes are rigorous, activities too. The only thing is I wish the school was smaller, but still not bad.
