6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school does a good job taking care of the whole child. There are clubs, classes, teachers, etc that support mental and emotional wellness. My daugther attended private school all her life and Hazen being her first public school has not disappointed. She has not experienced any bullying and/or drugs. There is some evidence of it in the bathroom but she has never seen it herself. She feels challenged but not overwhelmed. We are quite happy with the staff! Note that truly this School is an 8 / 10 based on academics. If your child is middle to higher, I can definitely recommend. I cannot speak for the 3/10 which refers to "equity". They could possibly work on helping struggling students, yes.Parent Review1y ago - Vera Risdon Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son attended private school all his life and is currently all honors here, so take the review as you wish. Just in our experience so far, this school is top notch in all areas: math, science, language arts, orchestra. We could not be happier with the number of opportunities (clubs) within the school as well as in the Renton School District. If I could go back in time, I would have put him through the public school system, specifically Risdon. It is a challenging but supportive school. Thank you, Risdon staff!Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 12223 SE 80th Way.

"People often do not clean up after their dogs. Very inconsiderate owners. There are plenty of potty bag a tations around the community."

"Great quiet neighborhoods with a mix of young families and retired people. Great schools and a lot of local trails. Major con is the potential traffic the new apartment/townhome developments will bring to an already high-traffic area. "

"Great neighborhood, it is expensive though. Big houses, lots of families. Police patrol quite a bit. We are very fortunate."

"Way to expensive. Not sure why it's known to be close to everything. I can't even get food delivery where I live, right in the middle of Newcastle. "

"We've lived in Newcastle for 5 years and can't get over the amazing nature access right out our back door. There are numerous hiking trails nearby including Cougar and Squak mountains - perfect for day hikes and nature lovers. It feels like we are in the wilderness yet are just 30 minutes drive to downtown Seattle (45 in traffic) and Bellevue, with Renton and Issaquah closer. The schools are fantastic and the access to Lake Sammamish and Lake Washington beaches a huge plus."

"This is an awesome area to live. It's close to seattle, bellevue, southcenter. It's such a great location and charming neighborhood with great restaurants and shops around. It's suitable for anyone to enjoy. Very safe, clean and has that small town feel!"

"Newcastle is a great small City to live in. It is situated close to the airport, downtown Seattle and the mountains. The Olympus Subdivision is within walking distance to the City Center and is adjacent to Lake Boren Park where many City activities take place such as the summer concerts & Newcastle Days. The Issaquah School District is well regarded. The City has a new YMCA and will have a soon to be completed library. The City did a fantastic job on the design of Coal Creek Parkway with landscaping and sidewalks so that it adds pedestrian accessibility to the city as well as serving as a transportation corridor. "
