4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe principal isn’t in this job for the love of kids, but for her own ego, power and control. She bullies the kids and treats them like prisoners in her jail. It’s sad, the kids spend so much time in this place and they are made to feel like criminals who need to watch their backs. The teachers have problems with her also, but unfortunately no one with authority makes a change so that children feel like their school is more like home: a safe place they look forward to being at.It would be nice to see someone replace her who will listen to the students, not just someone who only wants to be heard, and someone who respects the children as real people instead of just things or numbers to keep inline. There isn’t much for the lower grades to do at recess either to get their energy out. Some hoops, tether balls, and a few swings. It would be nice to raise money or look for grants for a climbing play structure with slides like at a park or other schools with 10- 12 year old students (5th-6th grade) have. When allowed, the FFA program does do a lot for the school and the students. They are a big part of creating a positive community. Most teachers don’t try to humiliate their students, but help them and are kind here.*They do need to educate/ teach more on conflict management and positive behavior so kids learn how to correct themselves, feel like they can improve situations with peers, be confident in knowing how to communicate to be understood and to understand, and treat each other in a more respectful way, instead of feeling labeled as bad kids when teachers, counselors, and the principal do get frustrated with them & only discipline them (that doesn’t help students grow or learn from their mistakes). Some substitutes can be really rude to children too.Parent Review1mo ago - Goldendale Primary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBest compassionate and caring secretary around, who has been there for at least 3 decades. She helps the school run smoothly and the kids feel noticed, safe, and appreciated.Good principal who has been in this district for years as a teacher and vice principal prior to her position now.Good outdoor toys. Nice library. Creative PE teacher. Great musical holiday concerts. The teachers do an excellent job decorating their rooms to make the children’s environment feel warm, welcoming, and a place to learn. They go on field trips that not only educate children, but also give them the opportunity to explore their own town. Examples are: the fire station, the museum, the observatory, the energy plant, the public library, the park, and to the local FFA events to learn about agriculture, farm animals, planting, jobs, and so much more! The older kids come in groups from the GHS & GMS to read with students and to help the kids learn all about interesting and new things. They influence the younger kids to enjoy learning while building relationships. The PTO has also done a lot to make the school fun with events held at the school. They also help raise money, like with the Read-A-Thon.Parent Review1mo ago - Check out schools near 315 W Broadway St.

"From the moment I came to town I was openly embraced into the community. It is a slow moving place where you can just sit back and enjoy the beauty of the area. It is far enough away from things to enjoy life, but close enough where you can get back into the big city if/when you want to ."
