We worried about the high school before we moved here but hoped that we could just muddle through, since we didn't have many other public schooling options for 10th grade and homeschooling and virtual schooling didn't work for our family. BHS is run down and unsafe. The students have mostly just given up by now, and my daughter tells me that many of them are academically and emotionally crippled. Not sure whether the teachers are truly incompetent or whether they've just had to dumb everything down to push the herd through the system. And don't get me started about usability issues with the school/district web site.The last straw was my daughter telling me tonight that students aren't allowed to use computer keyboards to type out their homework. No typing allowed. They have to write out every single assignment. BY HAND. Even work they do at home. The school does have computers. We had to move away, and miss it so much!!
