I am a substitute teacher for Roanoke City Public schools. One day at this school was enough for me to never want to come back! What I saw were teachers that care and do their best to do their jobs to the best of their ability. The students are completely out of line in the way they disrespect teachers. Students do not want to stay seated or quiet during instruction which makes it really difficult for teachers to do their jobs if they are having to constantly ask them to please be quiet. Students at this school also want to come and go out of the classroom as they please and do not want to be told anything. Another concerning thing is the rough play between boys and girls, pushing and pulling on each other. WHERE ARE THE PRINCIPALS DURING ALL OF THIS???? I not once came across them the whole day there. Not in the cafeteria, not in the gym, not in the hallways, and definitely not in the classrooms. If they care to turn this school around, they need to be PRESENT! and help teachers deal with student behavior instead of leaving teachers to deal with it all on their own! The reason I am taking the time to write this review is due to the fact that this is the worst school I have seen so far. Something has to change here. I feel bad for those few students who do want to learn but can't due to the constant disruption of others.

My kids had a long time in westside things change a lot and for good they are latinos and have the best grades ever! Unfortunately teachers can do all work if parents are not involved in ther education .. Its really sad to see kids waiting for ther parents to show up when they have ther promotions in school, education begins at home! My kids have bad experience with other children cuz they are latinos but i explain them that is cuz their parents dont educate them good . I cant just blame the school for that , and get them out , anyways they will always find people like that everywher! Teachers do what they can do but they are not the parent!

We're new to Fleming. My Daughter starting off as a freshman. The first two weeks was fine, after that, girls started bullying her, and its non stop from here on out. They call her obscene names, they call her ugly, they're doing what they have to just to provoke her. I can clearly see that it's bothering her because she's asking to be homeschooled. Low self esteem, insecured girls are the worst to deal with, and Fleming have tons of them. They have very low self esteem, and they give the pretty girls a very hard time, I'm starting to see that. I try to raise my daughter to love herself within, and be very confident. That way she can withstand the bullying. She's a beautiful girl, and she told me it's getting to the point where these girls are trying to fight her. I didn't want to put her in Fleming, but it's so convenient because we're closer, and my work schedule, but if this bullying gets out of hand, I'm going to pull her out of there. I won't allow a bunch of low self esteem girls torment her. Talk to your daughters, teach them about self love, self hate, and self respect, because a lot of girls there don't have it, and they're taking it out on the other girls, and that's not fair.
