2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI just started in the year 2022-2023. The school is horrible, comparable in every way to prison. The food is diverse which is good but the kids and staff need discipline. Since I've been here there have been multiple fights in front of the teachers. where instances they could have broken them up. The student joke about kids who are not of the same race, if not how they act or look. I have seen kids call other teachers slurs and names. Just for telling the student they are in the wrong. I have to say though I have made enough friends to help me in need. Some of the teachers try to make an effort on teaching the kids even when they have issues with the students and proximity learning. The only reason it got one star from me was because of the sports and food.Parent Review1y ago - I.C. Norcom High School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageVery pleased with the education provided to my nieces. Smaller classes, nurturing teachers, supported administration, strong heritage and alumni association. Norcom is well on its way to the mission set by Israel Charles Norcom.Parent Review8mo ago - Victory Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has autism. When I submitted the paperwork, I said he had autism, but I was first told that he was in the same class regardless of the development of all children. I sent a message to the teacher, but I was given only a phone number and was told to consult with the assistant vice-principal and a special education teacher. I couldn't connect no matter how many times he called. On the first day of school, he was listed as normal development and no teacher realized he had autism. Schools that are not linked at all.Parent Review2y ago - Check out schools near 505 Beacon Rd.

What Locals Say about Highlands

"I've lived in South Loxley for 47 years, very nice established community, perfect for young couples with children and pets, very pleasant neighbors, very private, and feels very safe as compared to some areas of VA. Very sad to leave as I raised both of my daughters there, however I am retired, 84 and ready for a new chapter. "

"Drugs, gun shots. This area needs upgrades. Too many houses not selling and too many condemned and reposed. Too many unrented. Portsmouth has the Highest repossessions in the state of VA! Too many are in this area."

"I lived very close to this area for quite some time, and the area is beyond rough. High crime rate, and even the nearby shopping centers aren't the kind of place you feel comfortable going to alone or after dark. Drugs are extremely prevalent, especially heroin and crack cocaine. Lots of burglaries and destruction of property nearby. If I could urge anyone to NOT live in this area, I would do so. It's an unsafe neighborhood, and there are some CRAZY people in the area that it's better to simply avoid. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this area for anyone."

"Nice neighborhood next to the golf course, easy area to commute from, beaches and historic areas near by, Several shopping malls and centers within minutes, 15 minutes to Downtown - Norfolk, Hampton & Virginia Beach's Town Center."
