4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child gets bullied and sexually harassed every day by other students. The staff members do nothing to help bullying and kids mental health. Students are bypassing the metal detectors bringing weapons and harming other students. the inside of the school is poorly managed, with moldy bathrooms, and broken equipment. Do not send your kid here.Parent Review3mo ago - Bay View Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFrom a graduating senior, Norview high is a school that can give students many different experiences based on their choices. there are many different routes that can be taken through Norview. How well a student does at the school is mostly based on them and their own decisions. Teachers and counselors can't be fully blamed for the sub-par student performance in the school, as a noticeable part of the student population lacks self-motivation/initiative. There are many opportunities for advanced courses such as Honors or AP classes available to all students, not just those in the specialty program. To parents nervous about their child attending this school in the future, they'll be fine if they use good judgment, stick to their work, and hang with the right people. In my opinion, the school can do a good job preparing students for college or a vocation, as long as the student has the initiative to put themselves into the necessary classes or programs to ensure they have a stable future beyond high school. In terms of the school's safety, it can get a little rough sometimes with the constant fights, but in my opinion, they're just a part of growing up I guess, avoid them and dont think too much of them.Overall, I think Norview High can be made a good school by a focused, driven student, or made a bad school by an unfocused student just drifting along in the river of life. To concerned parents, your child will be fine, as long as you ensure they are completing their necessary coursework and not lingering in the hallways.Student Review2mo ago - Check out schools near 8453 Toby Ln.

"I love living by the water....but you can't make friends here. The neighborhood kids are bullies and parents don't care of they beat on other children and steal whatever they want. The humans in this area are not the nicest people. Can't wait to find a better neighborhood. My chdren can't play without being hurt and tormented by others. I've had to call police 5 times in a year "

"I’m not aware of events in the neighborhood. We moved here recently and haven’t found the time to meet our neighbors. So far all looks and feels pleasant. I walk around the side walks in the evenings with my 15 month old nephew and are greeted by friendly folks walking their dog or coming home from work. Side walks, yards are kept up. We get delivery packages left on our porch with no issues. "

"The streets are nice to walk your dog down and the beach is nearby so you can run your dog there. There are also dog bag places where you can grab a bag in case you forgot yours."

"I have never seen dogs running at large. I am assuming that most people have fenced yards or that they only let them out on a leash. I also have never seen animal control patrolling the neighborhood. This should attract good people to the neighborhood. I have never seen any cats roaming the neighborhood and I have never seen any evidence of people’s trash cans knocked over either. I have only been here for 2 years but everything seems to be legal."

"I don’t know of any. Occasional I go to the library. I go to the grocery store, about 7 miles away, when I have access to a car. I used to go to Greenies until they tore it down. Sometimes I’d go to the Ocean View diner for lunch or breakfast, but now they are going to tear it down. Pretty soon there will be nothing here in OV that I can afford to go to or get to. It’s not fair what “they” are doing to OV! I wish “they” had more consideration for the people here who are not rich. The poor don’t have a chance!!!! Isn’t there anybody out there that could help out us poor working/retired stiffs? It is just not fair that when you work all your life only to get to old age and the rug is pulled out from under you! There has to be some people out there with a little competition. No grocery store for months, good, affordable places are torn down, senior center moved far away...what next?"

"Close to the bay beaches. Nice neighborhood community. Close to Downtown Norfolk, military bases and lots of restaurants. Roads need repair, sewage systems are old and leaking, cost of living is moderately high."

"I've lived in the area since 2009 and I love it. It is an up and coming neighborhood with new houses being built all the time. The neighbors are friendly and people just love to love OV. We really lucked out when we bought our home and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. "
