6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child is thriving at Signal Hill. I'm gratefully shocked at how far she has come. I have been to her classroom and the school in general many, many times because I'm "that mom". I have always been treated with respect. I have always seen the kids treated with respect, while also enforcing discipline where needed. The principal and asst principal are very involved with the children. The office staff is pleasant and caring. The school seems SAFE. I honestly can not ask for anything more. I am disappointed in the rating system on this site. The algorithm changed when last year this blue ribbon school was rated an 8/10. Now to a 3? Test scores, okay. But we also have non-english students or english as a second language. Are our teachers expected to teach in two languages to get those scores up? And while we're at it, what will that mean to the other children who need to be challenged to advance? We want to put all of these expectations on our educators and compensate them nill. Let's just keep cutting the funding to our education. That should do it! Bottom line. This is a great school in my opinion. The teachers seem to be doing everything they can to see all students succeed. It just so happens the fields aren't all even and the time is limited.Parent Review6y ago - Louise A. Benton Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers tend to be engaging at least in the classes I've been in. I think the biggest issues in the learning side are the social studies and math classes. I've had excellent teachers in both departments, but most of the time the lessons are lectures and the work is the same all the time. I understand its hard to make those subjects engaging, but more effort could be made. The school is safe for the most part, at least during school hours. I have heard there are issues with bullying and drugs, but I haven't seen them. I do know the school is not very responsive to students. I have severe Anxiety and I have Autism. The school does not assist this issues at all. In fact, they denied me a 504 plan, after waiting a month to respond to our initial request. They had no meeting, and only had one person review the ADOS report. They did not tell me why they denied me; they only said I was denied. They are also infamous for not accommodating for disabilities. "Fin Friends" feels more like a publicity stunt to make people think they are accommodating, but it's more for the non-disabled students then the disabled students. Frankly, I think it's an alright school unless you have any disability.Student Review5mo ago - Check out schools near 12284 Charles Lacey Dr.

"It’s a good neighbourhood , I moved here from india. My job is in Manassas only. I feel this neighbourhood is good and safe. For me surprisingly the rent is super high but I could find any houses with less rent. Grocery stores and all very near by, for me Costco , Walmart is just 5 mins drive ( less than 3 miles ) We’ve a lot of shops near by so Even if you don’t have a car , you can still manage to get some groceries to survive but have to walk around 1-1.5 miles I feel it’s save don’t know why but I got the gut feeling "
