5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved to Christiansburg just before our son's freshman year of high school. I have been very impressed with the way the teachers and staff have served him. He is thriving with straight A's. They have excellent problem resolution systems in place and have always kept me informed. The academics offered are challenging and the teachers care about their students. Everyone I have met and talked to, from the staff in the office to the vice principal, has been helpful, kind, and professional. I couldn't ask for more.Parent Review2y ago - Christiansburg Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son had a terrible time at this school. He missed the first year of middle school due to Covid, but when he went for 7th grade, it was a nightmare. He was targeted by some of the staff there who then made it their daily mission to make him miserable. He went from being on the A/B Honor Roll to getting bad grades. It got so bad that they put him in Montgomery Central. After a short time at Mont C, he went back to As and Bs.The female assistant principal disliked my son and made his life a living nightmare there. He is now in another school (we moved) and is thriving after only a few days of the new school year.Parent Review1y ago - Christiansburg Primary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter attended kindergarten at CPS during the 2012-2013 academic year. While there, she did seem to enjoy it and made lots of new friends. This school has open classrooms. Meaning there are no walls. Classrooms are divided by storage cabinets. This was a concern for me but they actually make it work. This is a very large school with (I feel) large classroom sizes. My daughters kindergarten class was 21:1 with no teachers aid. Homework was few and far between. The classroom work my daughter would bring home had errors on it that were not corrected by the teacher. We have since changed schools. As soon as I walked into her new school I knew she was behind in reading and writing and she did play catch up the beginning of her 1st grade year. Which was frustrating for her. I did like that having lunch with your child in the cafeteria was encouraged but the front office could be much more friendlier and welcoming. They do have a spring carnival that is fun and gives parents an opportunity to meet. I think, average is a fair rating for this school.Parent Review9y ago - Christiansburg Elementary School

"My neighborhood is considered safe. We have great transportation and great public places. We don’t have much to do around here anymore besides the trampoline park, a mall that’s running down, and the movie theater, but we still have a wonderful town. "

"People are friendly and are comfortable walking their dogs in this neighborhood. there is a swimming club that the neighborhood has for people to join. Also the way the neighborhood is arranged there is a block so people can walk around the block and end up back at their starting point."

"Easy to get around and only when there I'd z festival down town is it hard to find parking. During VA Tech football game weekends, areas around the mall can be contested, but bearable. "

"Our neighborhood is quiet, and had mature trees, which is nice. Many of the neighbors are older folks, which isn’t great for families with younger kids like us, but the neighbors that we have met are friendly, but seem to keep to themselves."
