"Very diverse neighborhood, most neighbors don’t mind dogs and are friendly but there are a lot of kids so it depends on your fur baby!"

"Parking is TERRIBLE in the neighborhood. After 5PM, forget a spot in the neighborhood. It’s a nice neighborhood, but it was a dealbreaker. Also, noise from outside does echo inside the house and can be a nuisance. "

"I lived in this area for five years! I know most of my 119 neighbors and they are all nice people. We have no crime. Great restaurants in the Area and a Home Depot near by. Best schools in the county!"

"Chantilly was built in the late '80s when suburbanization was in full bloom. As a result, the area is designed primarily for drivers rather than walkers. However, there are several very pretty walking/jogging/biking paths through Flat Lick Valley Stream park and other smaller Fairfax County parks. Restaurants and shopping are average. The Fair Lakes Shopping Center is nearby and there are many standard big box stores and restaurants there, a little further east is Fairfax Corner and the Fair Oaks Mall, both of which are pretty decent. Fairfax Corner has a fair nightlife but it's a drive to get to from Chantilly. Not too bad, but not walking distance either. You won't find any small bookstores, shops or restaurants in Chantilly. The good thing about Chantilly, though, it that it is basically a stone's throw from Reston and Herndon, which are very hot right now. The Metro will open near Chantilly in 2018. That should be a boon to the area. Many newer residential areas try to offer the walkability, restaurants, entertainment and culture of cities. While Chantilly is not a model for that, housing costs are not out of range for most families and property values will increase. Hopefully, this will help add some intellectual stimulation to Chantilly as well."
