7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averagei’m a student here, and i’ve seen some pretty messed up things. there is a lot of bullying, especially of students in sped, or people who are just simply different. i have seen discrimination all over the place. I have had extremely good teachers who are kind and are overall great teachers. i have also had experiences with not so great teachers. some of the vice principals are also questionable. as of the 2022-2023 school year, there are two lunches, and roughly about 700 students in each lunch. it takes 15-20 minutes of the 30 minutes we are given for lunch to get through the lines. i have seen a genuine fight, not just a middle school fist fight, i mean a body slamming fight with actual boxing techniques break out in the cafeteria. the lunch staff always seem so overworked and tired and it feels like they are herding a group of cows and having to babysit 700 kids on top of serving lunch. as a girl at this school. i have been told to cover up on multiple occasions even after the dress code was changed and i wasn’t violating it. sometimes it’s just an uncomfortable experience to have your body commented on at random points, even if you aren’t in violation of the dress code. this is more for some of my friends rather than me, because i have friends that struggle with body image who have come to me distraught about things that were pointed out simply for wearing a tank top. i also notice that they seem to pick certain peopleclass:there is some really great staff here. I’ve had great discussions in class however there are still other flaws. as someone who grew up in a private school, i can’t believe the way some students treat their teachers. i witnessed one of my favorite teachers constantly being harassed, constantly having to babysit rather than teach to the point where they quit their job in the middle of the year because they got so tired of it. let me backtrack here a bit, this isn’t constant. on a daily basis, students seem more uninterested/distracted typically than flat out disrespecting teachers and punching each other. i know i’ve said a lot of negative things, but this school isn’t truly terrible. i’ve made some great friends, leaned a lot, found community, etc. but this school has a real bullying/disrespect problem and from a students point of view, a lot of it goes unnoticed, or simply unhandled.i don’t hate this school at all, it’s a good school. i just wanted to point out some of the negative things i see from a student standpoint.Other Review1y ago - Butterfield Canyon School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHerriman is a great school, they have the highest graduation rate in the district and are running a lot of concurrent enrollment and AP classes.
