5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved to WF about 2 years ago from Houston, where I was VERY disappointed in the schools. Since being at Ben Franklin, my child has done a 360 when it comes to enjoying going to school. She's actually LEARNING and enjoys it. The principal, Mr. Bell is very involved with the students and teachers. The one time I had a concern he was in top of it immediately, and followed up with my child personally to make sure get concerns were no more. VERY IMPRESSED. With fighting in the halls, students getting jumped in the bathroom, little to no care about the students well-being, and constant scrutinizing about the dress code, especially to females, this school is a piece of work. With the weather recently being in the hundreds, girls are scared to wear shorts, because they don’t want to go through the ordeal of being “dress coded.” Getting “dress coded” for shorts 1/8 of an inch “too short” and being sent to ISS, means missing valuable learning time. I have been very pleased with Rider high...especially considering how poorly the school board and superintendent mismanaged the district. It is comforting to know that Rider maintained its high standards. [ 92 students of the more than 300 graduating class had a 4.0 gpa or higher. ]CLEARLY, the teachers are working hard to help the students achieve. Academics are prioritized and all students have oppotunities to grow and find enrichment. Rider has amazing fine arts..Theatre, Visual Arts, Dance Band, Orchestra, and Choir each earning many state homors. Athletics is competitive and usually makes playoffs in all sports.
