3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy name is Travis Motal and I am the principal of Taylor Middle School. Our vision is that all students will be successful. Our staff works hard to reach this vision daily. We have a great group of students that have so many wonderful attributes and we are very proud of all of their accomplishments now and the ones we know they will reach in the future. If you have any questions, comments or concerns...please contact me: tmotal@taylorisd.org. 2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAfter having our children attend NPE and THJ, we were extremely happy with Taylor ISD. However, then they transitioned into MSI and the nightmare began. In 4th grade, my child's teacher could not be bothered to post grades. informing us that she would have them in before the end of the grading period. That's all well and good but what is the point of being able to access the parent portal if the grades aren't posted? One of my children was bullied, called derogatory names (definitely not words a 4th grader should be saying!), and hit by another student. When asked why nothing was done about this, the teacher stated it was because my child didn't tell her about it even though it happened during PE and my child informed the coach. When the same student continued this behavior and even wrote statements about my child on a bathroom wall, all the teacher would say was some sob story about how the student in question was acting out as they felt no one liked them. The worst incident occurred close to the end of that year when a different student stabbed my child in the arm with a pencil!!! You would think the school would contact myself or my husband to let us know what happened, especially since my child had to go to the nurse's office. No one called us, e-mailed us, or even sent us a message on their supposed communication app. We found out when our child told us about it later that night. I was absolutely furious and contacted the Deputy Superintendent. However, despite all of this obvious negligence on the part of not only the teacher but also the principal, we never received so much as an assurance that the situation would be handled. We just received more excuses about why the child who stabbed my child said they did it. I shouldn't have to be worried to send my kids to school but since they have started going to MSI, I am terrified of what will happen next since there is no discipline, no control, no accountability, and no leadership at this farce of a school.Parent Review3y ago - Naomi Pasemann Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter transferred from one of the bigger districts suburban districts near Austin for the 20-21 school year. I was very worried about how things would go as a new student in the middle of a pandemic along with beginning the year virtually. My worries were unfounded. My daughter has had 2 great teachers during this long school year. There were changes made to classes due to many virtual students returning in person. Both teachers have gone above and beyond to make sure that my daughter is thriving and learning. She looks forward (most days) to going to school. In February, the district hired a new superintendent, Dr. Padavil who is doing a great job of ensuring that all the schools are focused on students and teachers being able to teach. There is a new principal for the upcoming school year with new positive vibes going through the district. The district is also unique because it has an amazing Early Childhood school (PK3 - Kinder) for its littlest learners. I love the small town vibe and compassion, and we are looking forward to seeing what the upcoming school year will bring.Parent Review2y ago - Th Johnson Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGreat school. My kids started at pre-k and completed kindergarten and 1st grade. They’ve learned so much in such a short time! The teachers are super great, care so much and tech the little duck a lot. The Principal Mr. Basche really takes care of his little ducks and makes sure they are safe and improve their learning, he was always there for any concern or questions. The new school district superintendent Dr. Padavil is also available for parents. All together I’d say that is how the learning experience should be!Parent Review11mo ago - Check out schools near 2301 Smith Ave.

"This little town is one great big community. It's a culture all in it's own. It even has it's own catch phrase; "Once a duck, always a duck." And boy howdy, do we have a lot of wild ducks (actual animals) around here! Taylor is very serious about treating the local nature with care and respect. It's also a place that's very passionate about its history!"
