Our boy is in 7th grade and compared to our previous school in San Diego, CA, Bernal Middle is a C+. Pros - relatively new and well maintained bldgs - A, bus to schools - B, good communication - email and text - B, easy enrollment - A, good dress code B. Cons - academics C+, classroom mgt C-, extracirricular activities D.

The school is great overall. So not all of the teachers are great but the ones my kid has have gone beyond my expectations. I feel blessed to have them going there.

This school does not treat minorities good at all. My daughters rights were violated by the schools nurse when her clothes were taken off and while she was already scared & vulnerable the school nurse called her ashy. My daughter was mentally, and emotionally abused here. Another minority students rights were violated when the nurse went against his IEP plan. He is non verbal autistic. When he needs to go to the bathroom the nurse has to take him. However he was denied by the nurse only for his mother to come to the school because he had been sitting in his desk crying for 45 mins. When his mother checked him, he had been sitting in his urine and feces that whole time. We will not accept this.
