3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCurrently, I am attending Lamar Consolidated High School, and I am not convinced that the school is as terrible as it seems. My views may differ slightly (or starkly) from others, due to the fact that I am enrolled in PAP/AP classes, yet I still believe this school has plenty to offer. So, let's first list the positives:- The student body is diverse, and I have not observed excessive bullying based on discrimination/racism.- The staff is not terribly strict nor lenient. Many of the teachers I know care about their students and the classroom environment.- Students are encouraged to take AP/PAP/Dual courses, and the school emphasizes the benefits of taking those classes.- Extracurricular activities and UIL programs are enjoyable; many students participate in them. (Shout out to Mustang Playhouse!)- We have some updates! There is now another field and sports center, we are rebuilding the tennis court (should be finished soon), and half of B hall has been remodeled.- Currently, inordinate amounts of homework are not an issue due to combining the use of Canvas and online assignments/tests.- Many students believe LCHS makes sure to create a family-like environment. No school is without flaws, but LCHS has some negatives that may concern some more than others:- Fights and disputes break out between students and, at times, between students and staff.- Unfortunately, on school grounds, vaping and drug use are common. Students can claim to know specific spots where they see students frequently smoking. While it is highly punishable, many students manage to evade the consequences.- The school does need remodeling since it is quite deteriorated. - Some students in academic classes complain about the classroom organization and general learning experience.- You will find large classes. I have been in a crowded classroom with 35 students before. It's your choice whether you dislike or love Lamar Consolidated High School, but let's just say that it's definitely not the worst place to send your child. Ultimately, it is up to your student to determine how their views will affect their experience.Student Review1y ago - Lamar J High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHello, I am a 7th grader that unfortunately attends this school. The teachers don’t care about your kids. The kids there vape, smoke, have sex, cuss teachers out, they just don’t care. I was shocked because I came from Hutchinson Elementary which was AMAZING. Here, they don’t even have a STEM Club. If a kid walks out of class, all the principal does is send them back. They pretend like they care. We are the 2nd lowest ranking school in the district. I’m in PRE AP and there’s kids in my classes scoring 37’s and 20’s. In the regular classes, they don’t even know the difference between their, there, and they’re. Send your kid literally ANYWHERE ELSE. I DONT CARE IF YOU HAVE TO DRIVE 40 MINUTES, LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE.Student Review2mo ago - Irma Dru Hutchison Elementary School
