7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOverall our child is bored to tears. Before we enrolled her at this school she was fully engaged in learning, loved to go to school, and enthusiastically did homework assignments every day. She never brings anything home anymore and tells us that much of the day is spent sitting in class being quiet. We are definitely moving to another school district and are so glad we did not actually buy a house where our children would be stuck attending this school.Parent Review5y ago - Sam Jamison Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHorrible. My son is now in counseling for low self esteem, depression and anxiety bc of this school. No one does anything. I emailed and called the counselor and never got a reply or call back after numerous attempts. I’ve received countless calls and emails since he was in fifth grade about how he used too many tissues( ok I’ll buy more), “ isn’t acting like himself,” another student heard him mumble a curse word, he sat in the wrong desk, he got up too much to sharpen his pencil. The list can go on and on and on. My son and many other students whose parents I talked to get pulled into the hallway and told to shut up. My son refuses to even speak now bc he knows I will get calls and emails- which I do. It’s an awful school and we are moving from the district so my other child does not need have to put up with the emotional abuse our oldest has.Parent Review6y ago - Pearland J H South

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePJHS is simply THE BEST!!! We moved to the area halfway through our child's 7th grade year and it has been the most positive move we have ever made because of the incredible staff. The entire staff is caring, LOVES teaching, enthusiastic about their students, professional and outstanding educators who go WAY ABOVE AND BEYOND. I can't say enough compliments to give this school my appreciation and kudos for being what a school should be. The principal and assistant principal know each family and are involved, approachable and intelligent leaders. What great role models this staff is for our community.Parent Review10y ago - Glenda Dawson High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child came from Houston ISD 3 years ago and is in her Junior year at DHS and it has been a tremendous improvement from a mental health perspective. The majority of the students at DHS want to learn and do well, so they are less disruptive than at other schools. The classes are about 15-20 students, which is a reasonable ratio. The school offers dual credit enrollment, AP and PreAP classes, and classes to help train student in various career paths. Overall I feel that my child is safe when she attends DHS. I'm glad we made the move out here.Parent Review5mo ago - Check out schools near 5217 Blue Sage Dr.

"Pearland’s most unique aspect is its diversity and the active involvement of the community. The urban area is quickly becoming closer to a metropolitan area but it still has a lot of really sought after community and family friendly aspects that make Pearland a great choice to live."

Very close to the medical center, galleria, and Houston downtown. Small town and suburb living with easy access to cosmopolitan and international amenities."

"Schools have amazing ratings but are actually terrible, roads are not maintained with many potholes, crime has increased tremendously over the past 5 years of living here, houses are overpriced for what they are and flood every time it rains, your own neighbors will steal off your porch. Terrible place to live an I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless you can afford a gated community which still isn’t safe. "

"I’ve lived in this neighborhood for the last eight years. People are very nice for the most part, neighborly and seem to be mostly families with young kids. I feel safe. Yards are kept up nice and the surrounding areas like grocery stores and shopping are clean and tidy. "

"I’m retired. I don’t have a daily commute. Pearland has no public transportation. The main highway used to get to Pearland has been under construction for the past two years. Highway 288 is currently a bumper to bumper drive and it will be nice once the road construction is completed."
