2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhen I went to school with my grand daughter, I was appalled at how the kids treated her. Her skin is a different color. What was even worse was the teachers that would openly GLARE at her, with me watching them. This 6th. grader was not safe at this school. School denied it was racial. I wish i could say what really happened here, but this site is censored. I felt her problems were not at all addressed properly by the principle, more like slide under the rug. I will say we meet one awesome Councillor, and one awesome teacher, Besides those 2, it was a very bad experience for my grand daughter. it is hard enough now a days being a 12 year old kid...no kid at school should feel physically threatened and unsafe!!! This happened this school year.Other Review9y ago - Lamar High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageUNDER-QUALIFIED. I was a transfer student who came from a A+ honor roll school, Tomball Memorial High School. Lamar High School was such a big adjustment, but I looked past and saw the potential. Within the first week, my schedule was disorganized, and had to be corrected multiple times which led me to eventually give up on administration. Administration completely ignored me and my parents requests, and disregarded the transcripts and plans given. The learning environment also need improvements. Classes are taught as seminars which is completely fine minus the fact that multiple “classrooms” are combined into one shared room. It is distracting, extremely hard to learn, and difficult to digest information. With these shared rooms, there is about 100 students to one restroom. Student restroom facilities are limited to two stalls for girls and 1 stall, 1 urinal for boys which makes the wait in the restroom intolerable. There is normally herds of people trying to fit into the restrooms before or during class. There’s also a problem with students behaviors in which the administrative team do not take seriously. There has been multiple occurrences where punishment was not reasonable and students were let off easy; this led to continuous in school distractions. Overall not a recommended school of my choice.Other Review10mo ago - Whidby Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHi I’m a fairly new parent to this school so far the academic community here is excellent. My child gets SPED accommodations for dyslexia and the SPED director had our IEP scheduled 3 weeks after our transfer and before the winter break so we could start off the next semester with a new IEP in place. My child’s new teachers took the time to meet with me on her enrollment day because we left our previous school because of the continued bullying for the last 2 and half years and the teachers are super welcoming and my student has made a core group of friends and enjoys the art program at Whidby. All in all I wish we would have started the year off here. As far as the staff well they seem warm and welcoming to me but I am a very upfront in your face kind of person so you either love me or hate me and I’m fine with that.Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 8299 Cambridge St #701.
