5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHorrible staff today I went to 3rd grade ceremony in the cafeteria meet up with formal student who was siblings with the 3 grader. The formal student was with me the whole ceremony next to my side watching we were whispering while all the other parents where also chatting talking about her ceremony tomorrow. One of your staff member comes up to my child and tells them rudely to stop talking mean while she was next to me doing nothing wrong than whispering a child can’t talk no more or what.(If you don’t like your teaching job why even bother to go)This teacher had no right to come up to my child and tell her anything especially in a rude way! My child did not even wanted to continue talking. The whole ceremony she keep staring at my child this women wasn’t even a formal teacher of my child and never has been this past years.Parent Review10mo ago - Daugherty Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI currently go here (I’m moving to 8th grade) and this school isn’t too bad. Thankfully, most of my teachers weren’t the bad ones, but even the good ones would yell at us because some kids would get too loud. Back in 6th grade most of the boys would make inappropriate noises and jokes, but in 7th it wasn’t as bad, although there was an occasional dirty joke. There’s a lot of fights and drama here. One time, two boys got in a fight and one of them ended up scratching the other boy with his keys, and he came back with a broken wrist (probably from the fight), and a pretty bad scar on his face. But I guess as long as you don’t get on someones bad side the bullying isn’t as bad. I have a sibling who went here some time ago and they had terrible experience, especially with bullying, but for me it hasn’t been as bad. The teachers usually don’t really give any homework, and the only homework I’ve ever gotten was just unfinished schoolwork. Also, by 8th period the kids start acting crazy. It gets a lot more loud than usual, and sometimes people run in the halls which leads to them bumping into some of the kids in the halls. And sometimes people even start screaming. Overall, the education is okay, and most of the teachers are kind (although some are kinda mean/rude). I can’t really speak on the discipline but I guess it’s somewhat fair. The safety and security isn’t the worst, and the family engagement is kinda good. I don’t know much about the special education though, other than the class they have for dyslexic people that i only know about because of my best friend who has dyslexia.Student Review7mo ago - Jackson Technology Center

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageJust finished my last year at jackson, i overall liked the experience there wasn’t a ton of homework that flooded your life and most of the teachers I had were kind and supportive and the coaches were always fun to be around the teachers always tried to focus on improving the education of us and the principals while harsh at times always cared for us I will say however the band teacher is the worst teacher in that school I always felt like she had it out for me when I never did anything to her overall I would recommended this school to parents looking for a middle school for their children.Other Review9mo ago - Kimberlin Academy For Excel

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIn my experience the Administration doesn't listen to any of the parents concerns or complaints. They deflict on all issues any chance they get and will not take responsibility for their lack of guidance and the persistent bullying that happens at the school.Students are getting pushed down and beaten quite often with little to nothing being done. If a child is diagnosed with a disability they are denied help and blames the student for all issues. If you speak with The special Ed Principal once and copy the head Principal she will lye and say they seen and spoke with you several times. If you question her then she will change her story again. The staff generally will distorte what you say to try and justify their behavior. The head Principal is non existant. She will not email you back or attend any student meetings. There are so many students that don't feel safe and don’t trust the staff. The school needs to care more about the safety of the students and less about the students that beat and torture students.Other Review5mo ago - N Garland High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have been a part of the Watson family since our son started the magnet program in Kindergarten. He’s about to begin 5th grade and is learning things many of his peers at other schools are not learning yet. The majority of the teachers are very helpful and loving towards the children and are always getting parents involved. The only issues we have had are:A little teacher discipline issue that was resolved by the principalandThe no younger siblings at lunch visits Other than that we feel the school has been a great space for our son and are so thankful to know our daughter will be in such good hands when she starts kindergarten.Parent Review8mo ago - Weaver Elementary School

"Best place to live in DC. It’s a beautiful neighborhood that is urban but not downtown. It’s all about the park and trail, tons of restaurants, things to do, grocery stores, markets, bar. Has its own metro in easy walking distance and a trail that connect you to the east side of the city. "

"NoMa Bid has been creating a huge sense of community in Eckington and NoMa. For one they keep the area so clean and you always see their workers sweeping the sidewalks, changing trashing, maintenance at the dog park. And then there’s the events, most at the A.T. Park and the MBTrail. Movie in the park, farmers market, holiday events like pumpkin patch/contest, and of course the mural walls festival. The trail and park have beautiful murals everywhere and each year local artist renew most of them. (NoMa in Color). Also the dog parks is a big vibe in the area, Eckington Dog Park is the best in the city, but there are 4 in the area. Also, Bouldering Project is a cool bouldering and fitness gym. Theres tons of grocery, restaurants, bars and beer gardens, etc. it’s surround by Union Market, Brookland, Shaw, H Street… all connect my the MBT (bike/walk trail) and NoMa/Gallaudet Metro Station (subway).
