7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am both a teacher and mom at this school. My children (currently 4th and 6th grade) have attended the school since they were 3 years old. I have taught 15 out of my 18 years at LHE as well. The school and community is extremely welcoming and supportive. We all understand that the main goal is to educate the whole child. Both my kids have learned academic and social-emotional skills. I am also a PTA member and see first hand how hard our community works to support teachers and students. We do have challenges that have been hard in the past few years (pandemic, discipline, etc), but we work together to ensure our mission and focus doesn't change.Parent Review1y ago - Lake Highlands High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI hate this school so much. Its like were in a prison. And to make things worse, the staff is so rude and cold to students. They make you feel so small. Its either do what they say or face the consequences, we’re literally teenagers/kids what more do they want from us. Being in this school sucks so much and i hate it, i wish i could just move so i wouldnt be there anymore.Student Review1mo ago - Lake Highlands J High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a student here at LHJH and if you are a parent that doesn't know what to expect, let me break it down for you. Let's start with teachers. First of all, every teacher cares about the kids there and loves every one of them. Although some can be harsher than others, no teacher I've met does not care about or love the kids. Even as a student, you can tell that all the teachers like everyone equally and do excellent work at their job. Each teacher carefully prepares students for tests and cheers them on all year. They take their jobs seriously and are incredibly kind to everyone. Now let's talk about the students. The stereotypical middle schooler is truly not far from the actual students here. They are crazy, irresponsible, stinky, and do bad things. I'm not saying everyone is like this, but a good 35% are. I think a lot of parents are unaware that their children go to school and swear, get in fights, skip class, etc. Again, not everyone does this. Only a small percentage. If you think people do drugs, smoke, jump people, etc. you are wrong. You may hear rumors, but they are almost never true and I have never seen this happen before. The thing that happens the most out of those three is kids getting jumped so make sure to stay out of trouble with other kids or tell your children to stay out of trouble because some kids are not afraid to tackle you and steal your stuff in the middle of the hallway. But before you decide to switch to a private school, remember that out of all these bad things kids have done it rarely ever happens and when it does only like 0.5% of kids actually do it. These kinds of situations are rare but do happen. Usually, as well teachers and staff jump in to stop this whenever they can. There is an amazing nurse as well as a counselor who will help you with all your needs. Super nice people and I recommend them. The teachers do a great job of teaching the material and making it fun for kids. As for family engagement, there isn't much, to be honest. Unless you tell you're mom or dad about your entire school day every day, the parents don't really know much. There are some events like an open house or multi-cultural night, but other than that not much. Teachers will email you back though!! I have some good news for kids but bad news for parents: there is barely any homework! sometimes none! In my 7th-grade year, I had no homework at all! It really just depends on the teacher. Thank you for reading this really long review bye!Student Review1y ago - Check out schools near 9026 Leaside Dr.

"If you don’t like walking your dog on a leash to you’ll fit right in around here. It’s not great because people like hauling it down side streets to avoid the constant construction that slows down the larger streets around here. But at least if your dog gets hit by a car it will probably die quickly thanks to the speed that people are driving. "

"You will 70% step on poop. Living in an apartment complex, there are plenty of owners who will allow their dog to defecate, pee and throw up in elevators and stairs. Irresponsible owners and sometimes untamed/unsocialized dogs. I would beware of coyotes and keep an eye out for scraps left by homeless people near the transit. "
