1505 Elm Street is absolutely the best value in the downtown area. It sits right next to the Akard train station so it's super convenient to get to and from the airport. The building is lovely with a number of very long-time residents that are all super friendly. The unit includes valet parking for both the owner and guests.
The unit itself has super large rooms with an open floor plan kitchen and living area very similar to what you would expect from a high end London flat.
The building's amenities are awesome including a work out room that was completely remodeled and equipped in 2021 so all the equipment is brand new. The building includes a great media room, entertainment and board room all available to owners. This has been an incredible benefit since everyone started working from home. 2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMrs. Willard does the most with what she has. James Madison was built in the early 20th century and the building has been maintained beautifully even without needed renovations. Historically the school has not received proper funding to compete with some of the more affluent schools, but over the year Mrs. Willard has been able to obtain help from organizations to offer more to her students. Madison now has a serious early college program, they're also working with NAF to provide students with IT skills, and the school has just received a large Bond for a much needed overhaul of its facilities & programs. I have no doubt in the capabilities of their Principal and even though it may not translate to online forums, there's a lot of pride that comes with being apart of The 'Great' James Madison High School's family.Other Review3y ago - Ben Milam Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child, who scored in the top 1% on the STAAR test, was excited about going to Spence. The TAG Coordinator portrayed it as such an amazing school, but the reality was much different. The school-within-a-school idea is terrible. It’s supposedly the best of both worlds for participating in extracurriculars, but the reality is that DISD didn’t want to build a new TAG academy, so they tried to combine it with a failing community school. The TAG students wear different uniforms than the community students, making them easy targets for bullies who resent them being there in the first place. The biggest problem we experienced was how the school treats students with disabilities. Usually, 504/ILP meetings are conducted at the start of every school year, so teachers know what the accommodations are & can follow them. Spence didn’t conduct a 504 meeting until I insisted & none of the teachers were aware of any accommodations until I gave them a list. But it didn’t matter since they refused to follow them anyway. We witnessed this same treatment given to other students with disabilities. I got the impression the TAG teachers felt disabled students were a waste of time. When I requested meetings with the faculty, it just made things worse. Teachers failed to show up for parent/teacher conferences & the few who did attend only did so to repeatedly tell me how all the problems had nothing to do with them or the school. When I wouldn’t stop trying to get help, the school began saying my child was a “discipline problem.” Previously, the only issue my child had ever had was talking too much in class. But Spence accusations ranged from insubordination to fighting. This is a common ploy to keep 504 numbers down & probably why Spence has such a high suspension rate. The one saving grace was the school’s counselor. She was caring person who let my child hide in her office when the situation became too overwhelming. On the day I withdrew my child from Spence, she told me how glad she was not to have to watch Spence destroy another sensitive kid. So, if your child is gifted, has no disabilities, can tolerate bullying & doesn’t require any help from the faculty or staff, Spence might be a good fit. If not, avoid this school & save yourself the heartache.Parent Review4y ago - Check out schools near 1505 Elm St #705.

What Locals Say about City Center District
- Trulia User

"You will 70% step on poop. Living in an apartment complex, there are plenty of owners who will allow their dog to defecate, pee and throw up in elevators and stairs. Irresponsible owners and sometimes untamed/unsocialized dogs. I would beware of coyotes and keep an eye out for scraps left by homeless people near the transit. "

"Not that I know of, maybe, maybe not. Certain areas unsafe, some areas much better. The state fair grounds are not too far. "

"Professionals of all ages. Not a kid friendly place. This is a busy downtown metropolis area with walking distance to bars and restaurants as well as businesses. Great for people without children or adult professionals."

"Lots of dogs of all sizes and breeds downtown. Unfortunately, very little green grass available. I think my puppy laments the lack of squirrels."
