6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCommunication with this, and just AISD in general, is awful. Everyone tells you a different thing, and to get calls back takes forever. There is just no follow through. It must be bad leadership from the top because it’s across the board. This district has lots of money, so hire more staff, or improve your work culture to retain more employees because your services to students and parents is not good.Parent Review1y ago - Burnet Middle School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhat an awful school. Parents I beg you don't let your kid go to this school. Teachers could care less about your education and your mental. The discipline in that school is absolutely ridiculous. Just a "don't do that again" and boom let em go. Chances are if your kid goes there they probably get bullied or are the bully, you don't even know that though because staff won't call the parents and inform parents if there kid is hurting others or being the one who's getting hurt or even both. Same thing with the education, staff won't call parents so parents won't know there kid if failing unless they check a website. If your child goes to this school teach them bullying is not okay at all and make you kid comfortable so they can tell you if there okay or not. Because the school won't teach them any of those things. There was a time I got sa there and me and the kid who sa me where in the office and the principal said "stay away from him" so no suspension? No cops involved? No discipline? Just a slap on the wrist. Brilliant just brilliant. I'm Homeschooled now. Leaving that place felt like finally being able to breathe. I'm much better now. My have motivation to do good in school, making good grades, I'm the most mentally stable person I know. Looking back at when I went to bms I was the complete opposite. I'll never forget this school unfortunately. On a good note I'll know what school my kids will never be going toStudent Review6mo ago - Pillow Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe current STAAR rating for this school is an ""F." I was a teacher at this school for many years. I've had a lot of support from principals that were professional and had great leadership qualities. For there to be an improvement in the rating, there must be a change in the current principal at Pillow. The principal talks and treats teachers with disrespect. Teachers did not feel valued and were retaliated against. So for two years in a row there has been a HUGE turnover in the staff. This principal lacks the knowledge and leadership of how to run a school. Parents, teachers, and members of the community have voiced concerns with supervisors but she continues run the school into the ground. It is a shame to see how the school has changed for the worst.Teacher Review6mo ago - Check out schools near 2501 Ashdale Dr.

"Close to bus stops, local shopping/dining and The Domain. Walkable, quiet neighborhood. Friendly neighbors. Easy access to downtown via Mopac...10 minutes by car in light traffic. Burnet is developing. West Anderson has Hop Doddy, Alamo Drafthouse and other good but less known restaurants."

"It’s close to downtown but not too close. It doesn’t have to deal with the awful 35 traffic. There’s plenty of restaurants, bars and shops nearby. Good schools. Affordable. "

"I’ve lived here for 9 years and it’s a pretty amazing neighborhood. The people are so nice and the community. "

"Ive lived here for almost 9 mos. I feel safe letting my child play in the front yard even if I’m inside the house. Traffic is very minimal and people are friendly."
- Dylan B.

"The yards are very dog friendly, and there are many dog owners walking every evening. The playground and track at Pillow Elementary are also a great place for fetch. Some streets have sidewalks, but not all, so some of the higher-traffic streets are a little sketchy for dog walking, but not too bad."

"Nice parks where you can walk your dogs and take a break."
- Natalie B.

"It's quite walkable, and there is easy access to green spaces for dogs to enjoy. A nearby place called Yard Bar is like a dog park and a bar/restaurant for humans."
- Natalie B.

"My neighborhood is just on the cusp between the eclectic urban offerings of Austin and the suburban luxuries of big chain shopping, which is great because I want the best of both worlds! North Shoal Creek is also seeing more of the expansion northward of the eclectic urban offerings, but the charm of the neighborhood hasn't been lost."
- Jack S.
- Resident

"Lovely tree lined streets and gorgeous parks. I love going to the park and and swimming in the pools."
- Dylan B.
- Resident
- 6y ago
"It has the feel of an established Austin neighborhood (with most of the houses built in the '70s) but with the excitement that comes from a lot of growth and development. It feels protected from the hustle and bustle of truly urban life but still very close to lots of entertainment, restaurants, and necessities. The North Shoal Creek Neighborhood Association puts on a few events each calendar year, including a 4th of July parade, a neighborhood-wide garage sale, and a Luminaria Walk. And a recently built community garden is a great new element."
- Natalie B.

"Just like everywhere else in Austin, if you leave at the wrong time, the commute sucks. But if you leave at the right time, it's super easy to get where you want to go quickly and without having to take any major highways."
- Dylan B.
- Resident

"I work downtown. It is predictably 25 minutes, with the occasional slowdown. The proximity of the neighborhood to both MoPac and 183 gives lots of options."
- Jack S.
- Resident

"Too much traffic on Shoal Creek Boulevard and in the surrounding neighborhoods."
- Jack S.
- Resident

"Good schools, a low level of crime, and nice parks."
- Natalie B.
- Resident

"There are more and more young families moving into this neighborhood, and it feels very safe. That said, we get our fair share of vagrants wandering the streets, though I've never had any issues or concerns for my safety."
- Dylan B.

"There's an elementary school in the middle of the neighborhood, and it is zoned for Anderson High School."
