2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhat an awful school. Parents I beg you don't let your kid go to this school. Teachers could care less about your education and your mental. The discipline in that school is absolutely ridiculous. Just a "don't do that again" and boom let em go. Chances are if your kid goes there they probably get bullied or are the bully, you don't even know that though because staff won't call the parents and inform parents if there kid is hurting others or being the one who's getting hurt or even both. Same thing with the education, staff won't call parents so parents won't know there kid if failing unless they check a website. If your child goes to this school teach them bullying is not okay at all and make you kid comfortable so they can tell you if there okay or not. Because the school won't teach them any of those things. There was a time I got sa there and me and the kid who sa me where in the office and the principal said "stay away from him" so no suspension? No cops involved? No discipline? Just a slap on the wrist. Brilliant just brilliant. I'm Homeschooled now. Leaving that place felt like finally being able to breathe. I'm much better now. My have motivation to do good in school, making good grades, I'm the most mentally stable person I know. Looking back at when I went to bms I was the complete opposite. I'll never forget this school unfortunately. On a good note I'll know what school my kids will never be going toStudent Review5mo ago - Navarro Early College High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTeachers at McBee work really hard. The administration always has a smile in their face. However, I would say that does not matter how much effort the staff at Mc Bee put into these students if parents do not work together very little could be accomplish. Many schools today, Mc Bee included, have the philosophy that parents are so busy that the staff have to do everything they can for the students and avoid homework because many parents are not supportive. If we as parents do not provide the time our kids need how could we expect that teachers do their job and ours too and at the top complaint about their hard work. I read several review about students failing and parents not knowing anything. That is ridiculous. If you do not know how your kid is performing at school what are you doing? that should be your priority.Parent Review9y ago - Check out schools near 10101 Parkfield Dr.

"people never have their dogs on leashes. my dog was attacked by another dogs whose owners let it run free. Seen multiple violations of dog safety, neighbors dogs have been kept outside without food or water, balcony and stair way smelled of urine and poop due to owners not cleaning up after dogs."

"We have a diverse, culturally inclusive neighborhood. Change seems to be happening more slowly here than in other areas. There are a lot of great new breweries opening in our area all the time, and they draw lots of visitors from all over the city."
- Kara S.

"It's away from the hustle and bustle of downtown but still has a wide selection of restaurants and cool places to go. It stays true to how diverse Austin is while also being a great community."
- Jay D.

"It's a mixed race neighborhood with schools and emergency services close by."
- Jessica W.

"Our neighborhood has monthly events—spaghetti dinners, board game nights, and more—that are free for residents."
- Desi M.

"A well established neighborhood near MoPac and close to the Apple Computer campus, Dell, and Samsung Corp.—three of the major employers in Austin. It's near good schools, supermarkets, and the North Austin Medical Center. We have a good monthly newsletter, and many people use a neighborhood e-mail group to share announcements of interest to all. The streets and sidewalks are well-maintained, and taxes are manageable compared to houses near downtown. Most houses and yards are well maintained, and there are plenty of trees for shade during the hot summer days."
- Joli K.

"My neighborhood has great potluck dinners. We also have a happy hour that rotates among the homes, and everyone loves it. At Christmas, almost all the neighbors decorate their homes and trees at the curbside, and at night it looks like a winter wonderland!"

"Plenty of dog parks at most apartment buildings. Most apartments allow most types of breeds, including large dogs."
- Benito L.

"The dog parks are nice, but it's mostly bigger dogs. The bad part is no one likes to pick up after their pet."
- Sarah L.

"People don't have the 'perfect,' most obedient rescue dogs here—they are just normal dogs. It's okay if your dog barks—you don't have to worry about being judged because of your dog."
- Carla Z.

"The neighborhoods are safe for the most part. The parks are pleasant and maintained well. The neighbors all look after each other, and we enjoy a small-town atmosphere."

"The schools are still small enough that kids can get a good one-on-one education."
- Kara S.

"There are many elementary and middle schools in the area, and child safety is a big goal around my neighborhood. We not only have school zones in place, but crossing guards to make sure everyone gets across the busy streets safely."
- Ann W.

"Traffic in Austin is bad, no doubt about that. So it all depends where you're going, what time of day it is, if there's a festival going on, and if you have to take MoPac."
- Wendy H.

"I commute 15 minutes south at off-peak times. My spouse commutes about 40—45 minutes into downtown. The commute takes longer in the evening."
- Shaundre B.
- Resident

"The commute is easy to moderate. During school dropoff, lunch time, and rush hour it gets a little congested. Most of the traffic is on IH-35 and MoPac."
- Benito L.

"Quiet and calm in most cases. The traffic can be bad every once in awhile."

"Quiet neighborhood, tucked conveniently between major roads"
- Sarah

"I lived on Neans drive for two years before buying a new home. The street itself is relatively quiet and the neighbors were friendly. It was relatively diverse and most of the homes were well maintained. Unfortunately the neighborhood quickly deteriorated if you travelled two blocks in any direction. Gang violence was commonplace. There was a shooting at our daughter's bus stop. Late at night you'll be regaled by roaming bands of youths competing for the loudest rap/Tejano music from a car. Every morning we'd find trash on our front easement. Twice we had to chase transients out of our shed in the backyard. The police helicopter was a regular visitor and you're regularly treated to a show of the police chasing someone. Sometimes right through your yard. The nearest grocery store is filthy. Restaurants were fast food or 'Mom & Pop' store fronts of varying quality. Traffic is a nightmare and it seems that every driver on Lamar is competing for the title of 'Worst Driver in Austin'. The schools are laughable. We pulled our daughter out and home schooled one year. The second year she was accepted into an AISD magnet school and was bussed there and back. Be prepared for constant bullying, unless your kid is the bully. "
